  1. Fell onto the table beneath her eyes, creating dark circles where the salty water soaked into the wood. She couldn’t believe that she was crying over dinner, it was so pathetic. Until she looked up and saw the lit candles, the upholstered chairs, and the dimmed lighting. She was alone. As always.

Trying to get out of my car as quickly as possible, my bag of groceries drops on the pavement, but I’m able to grab it up before the rain soaks through the brown paper.

  21. “the point is for the cup to overflow” she says, and I wish I could believe it was so easy to make the drops appear, and for me to magically care, but it seems like there’s a barrier between me and my motivations and I wish I could jackhammer it in two but I have not the faintest idea how or even what to use as a jackhammer and that’s why it’s so hard to explain sometimes because for her, the hammer has always been there in her sheer force of will.

  22. Tiny little drops dripping down the window pane wet and cold from the weather outside, weather that’s beating the side of the house with an icy fury as if it knows or understands what has gone on inside I suppose it wouldn’t be too much trouble to wipe the blood off the glass

The beauty of the whole moment was that the sprinkler reassessed and reformed this tiny universe once every thirty seconds. It was like watching Genesis, over and over and over again. Nathan felt like drinking his chocolate milk as quickly as possible.

    Overall, the camp was very unexiting. The cabin roofs leaked, and those icicles seemed as if they were just dying to, well, make someone die. I sighed…at least they had good juice.
