My mother is sitting behind me and she hasn’t said a word all evening but I know what her face is like. I know the way she looks at me as he begins to cut open my forearms.

  6. its late, and not quite dark yet, and they start to scream behind me. Nobody really knows whats going on, and panic ensues. its a nice feeling, somehow, and the group includes you and nobody feels left out in their fear. Dusk comes, and with it the unknown. Smiling helps, because while you can’t see them, they can see you.

  12. the end of the day, before the coming of the night. hat twilight, the magical moment in which you can see clearly all your hopes, dreams, and aspirations for what they are. In this moment, this DUSK, you realize just what you’ve accomplished, and what you still have to do.

    Luke
  15. At dusk, the trains stop, the buses stop, and the cars stop, just for one second. The mind stops, the heart stops, the body stops, and the world is still for only a beat. The delicate outline of a Sun disappearing, an act of God or an act of science, hard to say.

Then it passes and life continues again. But I stay still, waiting for something to move me.

    Michelle

Then these grasses are spread with a chocolate smoothness, so gently I miss the moment when they disappear again, swallowed in night. Then I say “See you soon, Uncle Walt” and dissolve, too.

    Brian Slusher

The look in his face almost made me cry.

  29. The powdery light of twilight’s sky fell onto her satin hair; it sparkled quietly under the soft glow of the single streetlamp which lit up the rest of the deserted street.

One step at a time, she walked forward into the nightsky, and as I watched her go, slowly engulfed by the navy-blue horizon, a single tear fell from my eye.

Dusk was always the saddest time of day.
