  1. It was the event of the year. Big party, after. The church could do nothing, though the rectors of the two parishes concerned were present as witnesses. Both brides were radiant, dimmed only a little by the fact they’d been together for 20 years already.

    Ravyn
  2. It is the world we all are living…..

    Nattu
  3. You plan these things. Sometimes they’re just spur of the moment. They are moments that matter and remain in our memory. Not just time passing, but things happening.. important things… things you need a name for because they’re not ordinary.

    Catherine
  4. Of course, he hadn’t counted on ruining the whole party. The social event of the season – at least for Roger and his crew of losers – and it had turned into a nightmare. All because of one pigeon.

  5. who would say it’s important. even as an event, it just happened. People there, some music, ok some drink but it wasn’t so important.
who would say it’d change my life entirely.

  6. The Event Horizon sparkled with the flares of fifty exploding jets. “That’s it,” I remarked to my brother Jonas. “That’s all that’s left.”

  7. I have been invited to an event. Not a nice event. A wake. A wake for someone I don’t know and I won’t know anyone there but I am expected to go. I don;t want to but will be the worst in the world if I don’t.
My sister died last year, her’s is the last body I saw. I don’t want to see another.
I don’t want to go to the wake.

  8. I like events…. I am going to one next week since finals are over. We’re all going out for dinner. And then the weekend after that I’m going to see a play with my best friend. This is such an odd website but I guess I should keep thinking about the word. Is there a timer? Oh, it’s that green lie.

Well, in any case, event is a pretty generic word but I’m pretty sure that most people like going to them. Who wouldn’t? They’re generally fun and you get to be with other people. Maybe even dress up a little.

  10. A type of place you go to do something special and productive, something that makes you want to be somewhere and has the idea of needing to prepare beforehand and possibly unwind or clean up afterwards. It’s often planned for a while, though at the same time can just all of the sudden happen as a spontaneous moment, later to be defined at “the event” that you remember.

  11. I went to an event the other day. There were balloons everywhere, they packed the entire room. I figured that, with balloons, it was probably a birthday party. Boy, was I ever wrong. It was a helium party. By the end of the night, thirty people were dead and everyone else was passed out on the floor, which was covered with the dead sacks that were once balloons.

  12. an event?
a real event…or one that pretends to be. what makes a real event anyway? important people? important issues.
for me, the biggest events are when the kids are home and we are sitting around getting reconnected. I would pass up meeting the president to meet with my son – That is an EVENT.

The best events are the ones we value – not the ones that barge into our lives and take over our time.
