  1. fate. i don’t believe in it.
not that my life is totally in my hands.
but it’s not in anyone else’s either.

    danaë
  2. i never understood fate. the way it swirled in eddies around my face, or the way it trapped my friends into thinking they had no way out of what they’d gotten themselves into. i never understood the way it took my hands and put them where they wanted to be, regardless of where i thought they were even capable of going. it snowed, and i fell on a patch of ice outside my apartment, shattered my tailbone , spent weeks on my back, and read the dictionary cover to cover, then aced the GRE and got into Harvard as a result of my unparalleled vocabulary. fate.

    kali McCullough
  3. she looked at him, and he looked at her. The worst part about their situation was that even though they knew they should be together, it was fate that would prevent it from turning out that way.

    Tori
  4. Fate is a fickle mistress. There’s not any leeway to it, no bargaining with it. It just is. There’s no changing it. Is fate yours, or are you Fate?

Either way, there’s no hope of changing it. Grab life by the horns. Endorse cliches. Think big and dream bigger. Because, like it or not, Fate doesn’t care.

    Megan
  5. One sky, one destiny. a man has no choice but too leave his inner struggle and face what everyone else does: an uncontrollable future. What can one do? It scares the shit out of me. I can sometimes get by not thinking about it, but not all the time

    Zach
  6. fate it’s all there is….you don’t know what will happen in real life so you just have to feel every moment of every day. fate it’s what keeping me ready for the future.

    titus
  7. fate is a box of chocolate shaped turds. e can never really know how bad things are gonna get until we’re in the thick of it. We can always chose something better than our supposed fates

    Darcy Harrison
  8. i don’t know whether i believe in fate or not. i’ts comforting to think that what’s in store for you is already decided and written somewhere, but, at the same time, i don’t like the idea of not being free to change it.

    André
  9. Fate is something that people want to have if they need something to hold onto. It’s like religion, if something is “meant to be” then it’s fate.
say for instance that you get run over by a truck, then instead of it being yours or the guys fault it’s “fate”. Also, true love can be chalked up to fate, because we all need that something – a bigger something to believe in, to let us know that this world and everything that happens in it isn’t just random, but has a purpose.

    Katherine Clark
  10. How can I work out what my fate is, or at least I don’t miss it when it comesa along. If life is a choose-your-own-adventure book there must be at least a couple of fates out there. Maybe if I had faith I could just give over to fate…unfortunately I don’t believe. I just have hope and love and effort. I hope that if I put enough effort into loving, things will work out okay, good, happy in the end.

  11. Is it what was always supposed to be. Is fate what would have always happend. If you knew, if you know, if you see , if you go. Fate will always have a way of sneaking up on you when you least expect it. But you should be expecting it, because it is fate! Fate is true. Fate happend.

    Glo
  12. is it really my fate to do what i want to do? will i end up in alaska like i want? if fate is real, can we see it and change it?

    margo
  13. fate brought me to this one boy 2 years ago so i could fall in love.. i thought it was our fate to marry but now he’s not the same. :( i hate who he’s become, but ,y love for him became so strong that i cannot let go.. is something wrong with me? what do i do..

  14. Fate. That is the end of something. The outcome. what lies ahead. what has already been predetermined of your life. It’s just something you need to accept. It’s something I’ve accepted. It’s just fate.

    Jess
  15. A peculiar word. You fell to the ground and discovered the fate of the flowers. All nestled into the soil. Water trickled, and worms squirmed. The flowers stood facing the sun with their heads held high. You scraped your chin and blood landed on a petal. Your fate is to rise back up, and live like the flower. Look up. Look up.

    rachael
  16. Fate to be or not to be. Who cares? Fate doesn’t exist as long as I can breath. Change happens when you want it to happen. I can change the direction of my life.

    Anastasia
  17. It is fate that finds me here in the space, this place, this time. All events leading up to this present moment have conspired to bring me here to you. It was fate.

    tippytappy
  18. Fate is what holds us down. But it also allows us to be free to make mistakes. I can’t help that this happened, it was meant to happen. It was predestined. I’m just a cog, my life is a machine, and everything is going exactly as planned. It’s religion for the atheist, a potion for the nonbeliever.

    O.K.
  19. inclined to endure, impossible to predict, opposed to all but few; yet considered witchcraft. why can’t people recognise that god, mathematics, and scientific observation amounts to; we don’t know.

    emma
  20. Fate is something that doesn’t have to happen we control our fates. Olden times believed gods held their fate, but came to find we hold our fate!

    KpJ
  21. There is no such thing as fate and destiny. It’s just a bunch of bullshit that people make up to control others. Who needs fate, who needs destiny? Your life is yours, do whatever the hell you want with it.

    ac
  22. fate is when its ment to happen, something that is uncontroable i n your life. its your destiny. for example its someones fate to become a writer, or a really cool person, or other bulllshit

    kaila
  23. It is our fate to make this world a better place to live. We must contribute to society around us in whatever ways we can. That, my friend, is the determination of the fate of our society.

    alison
  24. fate is endlessly complicated by our lack of foresight.

    rafael lopez
  25. IT WAS MY FATE TO BE BORN IN THE 20TH CENTURY, I DON’T DOUBT AND ACTUALLY AM GRATEFUL FOR IT. IT WOULD BE HARD TO IMAGINE MYSELF IN SOME OTHER ERA WITH OUT THE CONVENIENCES OF THIS LIFE. BUT FATE DOES N OT JUST FIT ME INTO THE PRESENT BUT ALSO THE FUTURE. WILL IT BE MY FATE TO SEE THE MODERN SOCIETY THAT I ENJOY RETURN TO THE ERA I AM GRATEFUL TO HAVE BEEN SPARED FROM? WILL MY FATE BE ALWAYS NEGATIVE AND IS THERE REALLY SUCH A THINK AS FATE THAT DRIVES ME TO EXTINCTION. I DARE NOT PONDER THAT THOUGHT BUT LIVE IN THE MOMENT OF BLESSED AND GRATEFUL BLISS.

    NANCY THE NOTETAKER
  26. destiny as it falls into place. it is the path of our creator

    julianne
  27. Fate is a funny thing. It pulls our lives in all directions, sometimes ones we can predict, sometimes in ways that catch us by storm. Regardless of whether we see it coming or not, it’s always there, looming on the horizon and – as frightening as the future and our fates can be – it’s not something a person ever wants to end.

    Rachael
  28. fate is a funny thing, not funny Ha Ha, but funny odd. Your fate can be read in tea leaves or can be seen by an oracle. Fate is not to be confused with Hate because Fate can be very good.

    J. Ackerman
  29. the fickle finger of fate that unfortunately decided the course of my life. sometimes i wondered if it really did exist, if it was the deciding force in my life or if it was all in my head. i hoped it existed since i also hoped i would never imagine this fate for me.

    auroraspin3
  30. she hates the idea of fate. who knows who it could be? she had three men in her life at one time. the Italian ex, her actual boyfriend, and the cute guy from the party last night who could be should be asked for her number and she gave it to him why? She thought she could just be his friend. She was scared that she might be wrong.

    dilemma
  31. it is the thing thst happens in the future
it is like o my this is my fate you know
no one knows what fate is except for that one guy but i forgto his name
i’m sure you can find it in the dictionary and what not
i don’t know how to properly describe fate
    does anyone
    i sure don’t
    i want a different word

    jiles
  32. Fate is what we create ourselves… it is the dark side of hope. It is not yet, it is what we are, what we will become if we do not change. Our fate is ourselves. It is thorny, it is poetic, it is death. We cannot escape it.

    mochella
  33. fate. the beginning, but also, and even moreso, the end. we like to believe it. we like to depend on it. too bad, we only find out the answer at the end. we make our own.

    Lauren
  34. fate u make your own fate but there can be hurdles enroute but the desire and commitment should be there

    suhail
  35. If you truly belive in fate than it is harder to know that your destiny can change with the blink of an eye. Your worst day could easlie turn in to your best etc.

    Julie F
  36. the hands of destiny have never been kind.

    they twist you up
    and twirl you down
and leave you gasping in the wake of
    “thisisn’tmylife
    idon’twantthisride
    someonefindthestopbuttonandswitchthetracktohappy”
    moments,
    even when you realize
that nothing’s ever gonna be the same.

but this form of fate isn’t yearning
for something grander than chocolate bars
    and black-tie affairs.

this is one of those moments
    when the world simply stops
and lets the heart beat in sync with his name.

    Beth
  37. what’s mean this word ??? i don’t know any way ! i should use a Translator ? but i don’t have Time ! Fate or Fat ??? i know Fat but Fate ? grrr why it’s not another word

    Bersam
  38. Fate is just a bunch of bullshit. Perhaps one day we will all laugh at the Romeo and Juliet idea, of star crossed lovers. No two people actually belong together. Disney and all the people like that, just want us to believe in some sort of fairytale romance. It doesn’t exist.

    Lisa
  39. It was done. Fate had caught him in it’s web and swept him to this end. If it hadn’t been for his parents, his fate might have been different. He might not be in jail right now with their blood still on his hands. But fate had also given him his parents hadn’t it?

    Kathie
  40. Maybe fate is just a thin, invisible thread, knitted into a beautiful and infinitely complex lace pattern. But our human existence only inhabits a millimeter of it, and we have no idea of this grand and beautiful design which encompasses time and space into infinity.
