  3. The ideal woman’s figure has changed remarkably over the previous centuries. In Middle English literature, the plumper the figure, the better…in modern literature, the beautiful women are linear. Of course, no matter what we do we cannot control our figures…go figure.

  8. figure it out einstein! what a classic phrase. when did that get popular? the 80s? i’m sure it wasn’t during einstein’s lifetime. how do you think he’d react if he knew that his name was part of such a classic phrase? i bet he’d be pretty psyched. although he did seem like a modest fellow. except for that crazy hair. you can’t have hair like that and be totally modest, can you?

  14. It figures, from time to time.
How nobody thinks about what they do
How nobody thinks about who you are
How nobody thinks about how you feel
It figures because nobody thinks about them.
It figures because we’re all the same.
    It figures that nobody figures.

  16. it is the shape you are. it is the form you are born with. it is the entity that composes you. it’s yours and you can’t change it. you’re stuck with it forever. make full use of it because it has lots of potential.

  22. My first thought is to figure something out, which in my life seems to be difficult to do. Like figuring out what I want to be when I grow up, even though I’m 41! At some point I will figure it out and hopefully be happy. But that means I have to figure out what happy means! :)

  23. Figure drawing reminds me of Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead. She writes in a way that lends itself to silhouette imagery. Always strong figures with sharp angles and striking figures. The perfect figure is one that Ayn Rand would write about.

  24. It was a beautiful figure. The artist had carved it out of his own passion for life. His romance had been his inspiration. Just lookingat it you could see, the simple lines, the soft curves, they were all a representation of something on a higher plane than most could understand

  27. The figure skater on the ice reminded me of a dancer, a dancer that floats
she gracefully carved swirls and squiggles into the smooth surface of the ice. I wanted to meet her. to touch her. just to know something so beautiful could be real. but i just walked away so as not to be disappointed

  28. Something. Existing in place. a number, outline, figure. a chance to be viewed. not the actions but the idol itself.

  29. Figuring out anything is above and beyond my call of duty and my pay grade. I don’t have the initiative to figure the figures that you figure we deserve. This math circles around itself and we’re back at square one, a complex equation of loss and disrespect and self-love that eliminates any need for anyone else except what we delude ourself into.

  34. She stepped into the stadium and switched on a light or two, then began skating. When the lights shined in her eyes, she was blinded for a moment, and it seemed almost like she had been in here just yesterday, performing before a crowd of hundreds of people. They cheered in glee when she flawlessly landed a spiral, or just watched in stunned silence, bewitched by her grace. But that was all gone now.

  35. i used to want to be a figure skater when i was little. i honestly-to-god did. i had a book on it, it was one of those “in between” picture and chapter books that told the story of michelle kwan and how had she had to work to become a figure skater.

i loved the way the skater’s body changed as she swirled around around, faster faster.

  40. there was a dark shawdowy figure standing at the top of the hill. you couldn’t see anything else except for the fedora resting on top of his head, and it was quite obvious that it was a man, due to the sheer volume of his body, the girth of his shoulders were as wide as the stance he had. he was looking down, but unaware
