  1. No. I’m not writing about Fireflies. No. Certainly, not now that it is so fashionable.
To do so. See this is me not writing about Fireflies…nothing to see here about Fireflies, no sir, no bob, not at all.

    Kevin "FireFly" Loria
  2. Not in my backyard. Only dry grass and cicadas. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one. Perhaps I’ve read about them in a book.

  3. This immediatley makes me think of a song by well know Indie band, Owl City. I despise this band, mainly because of the monotonous, droning voice of the lead vocalist.

  5. what a lovely song. the way they light up the sky is amazing. with their soft glows and bright ends the night is alight with passion and romance. Never is there such a night as the one when the fireflies come out to show off. They are the e

  6. It was simply jar. Capped with a ferocity that only someone scared could muster. And inside were several glowing fireflies, burning brightly against the saffron of the night. I loved every one of them

  8. and as you kiss me
    and as we touch
and as i feel so many things
    uncomfortable with this
    and uncomfortable with you
    because my mouth is open
    and my eyes are open
and all i can see is
    the fireflies
    circling us.

  9. The night sky burst into a myriad tiny pinpricks of light. I raced into the house for the jar I’d worked on one winter day, just waiting for such an opportunity. Rushing back outside, I clutched the hole-punched lid in my hand and made my way to the edge of the woods.

    David Willsey
  10. the song of Owl City is really good but it begins to get really old…those little bugs are kind of cute too, but they’re bugs so they’re really creepy in the end of the day…but I kinda like them anyway, like ladybugs and butterflies, you know?..

  11. There are many fireflies at the festival. Of course since this is the mid-harvest festival there should be many. the brighter blue water is deeper than i’d ever seen before. as usual for this festival, once the songs begin you must dance with your significant other.

  12. fireflies were showing the way when we walked around the lake in the middle of the night. We kissed and…

  13. “Fireflies” by Owl City. I wonder how much indie cred I lose for saying this, hah. I actually kinda like that. I feel like it would be an amazing driving song. You know those songs that just sound better when you’re in the car, and it’s late at night, and all you hear is the sound of the wind outside of the car and whatever is playing on your stereo. I love those songs. It’s one of those “and in that moment, I swear we were infinite” moments.

    One Girl With Face
  14. you would not believe your eyes if 10 million fireflies actually gave a damn about your feelings.

i mean, i used to capture the little buggers in jars.

they don’t exactly owe me anything. especially hugs.

even if it is 10 million.

    Charlotte Fraser
  15. they are cool, and they glow in the grass at night. the song is a nice song as well. they are calming and realzing. they might make good fishing bait too. idont know what eles to say other then that lol.

  16. That’s a shitty song. Why does everyone like it? It’s on the radio all the time. Haha, fireflies were cool before everyone started talking about them. But they’re the best when you’re a kid and you see how many you can catch. Especially around a campfire. Later, it’s sad to see them because why would you catch them as an adult?

    Mary
  17. My cousins and I used to love catching them and sometimes I’d use their light for a ring. I had a good imagination. At times there were lots of them in my parent”s yard

    Darlene
  18. The fireflies glowed like candles of fire while my limped tears fell like raindrops onto my burning cheeks. My cheeks flushed as I saw him with another girl. And I remembered the fireflies of hope.

    Bethany
  19. fireflies is an annoying song by someone I don’t care much for. they light up. and I’ve never seen one. but I would like to. and you can catch them in jars. I’ve seen kids do that in movies. but if you can’t catch normal flies how is it so easy to catch fireflies. I don’t know. fire + fly = firefly.

    Deidre Director of Darkness
  20. Fireflies are my memories of warm, humid summer nights and mason jars. Running, Leaping, snatching the air in hopes of catching a flash of fire, tucking the tiny insects into the jar, shaking the jar before screwing on the rubber-sealed lid.
A jar of twinkles. How intriguing. Before being sent to bed came the big release. The insects would find their way to the top of the jar, climb out onto my arm, then fly away to renew their search for a mate. My grandmother used to tell me they still had to search because I had caught either all girls or all boys.
And a last memory, known only to a child who has experienced such an exotic night; fireflies have a biting, acidic smell that lingers on the hands even after bathtime, an odor that made me smile as I drifted off to sleep.

  21. you would not believe your eyes, if 10 million fireflies, lit up the room as i fell asleep <3 well, i love this song and i dont know why im typing it but its the first thing that came to my mind.

  26. The fireflies danced around her head as she looked up at the sky.
“I wonder where he is right now?” she thought to herself out loud. “And I wonder if he’s thinking of me…”
He was, actually. And along much the same notes as she was.

  27. when the firelfies froze int eh cool night air they looked like tiny deformed alien butterflies.no one knew what had happened. It was an act of nature. Who can try to explain the meaning of such an amazing event as that.

  28. It was midnight… I thought I saw shooting stars.

I asked you to look, and you smiled in such a way that made me sit up and watch you rather than the sky.

You said nothing for a moment, only tilted your glasses and finally you said,

    “they were fireflies.”

    Scarlett
  29. Fireflies reminds me of the song by ummm..what’s their name… Owl City! I’ve always liked them.
I’ve heard some make fun of them, but I like them.

I remember seeing Lion King on Broadway. There was a scene where Moufasa and Simba were talking, and they had some Fireflies effect that looked sooo cool. I really liked it.
    I always love fireflies.

    Alex Dawe
  30. I used to take my kids out in the backyard to catch fireflies. At dusk, you begin to see them pop out like the first night stars, blinking around the yard. The boys capture them in a bug box and we take turns watching them shine. Fire flies bring out the smiles on kids’ faces.

    Paul
  31. I’ve never actually seen a firefly. I once visited some distant family in Nebraska and I was very excited to see fireflies, but it wasn’t the right time of year. A week after I left the fireflies showed up. I was very dissappointed.

    Cassandra
  32. you would not believe you eyes, if ten million fireflies…

go caught in a jar. that’d be super super bright, as bright as the sun. where would you get 10 million of them anyway? theres not even that many people. thats a lot of fireflies

  33. Job As A Laundry Technician

The most enjoyable job I enjoyed was a Laundry Technician at Cambridg Nursing

FacilityI felt the need and desire to be amongst elders and the handicap. However at

the time I was now interested in becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant, but as a

technician,so I pretty much felt out of place with me having these type of caring

qualities, unlike many Industrial facilities ,working in a Nursing home your able to

communicate with the residents there, this was just great for me,I had a chance to

become there companion in a unusual way.

Delivering there linen was part of my job duties,it was difficult at times, because

most of there clothing would become lost or stolen and was hard to find. One of the

other duties was getting prepared for isolation, I would hve to get covered up with a

gown, and wear protectiveshield over my face,a latex gloves for my hand, this

all needed to be done before I was to even touch the soiled linen, then I was prepared

to seperate the dark from the whites, and turn on thehigh functional laundry machine

with the right amount of cleaning solution.

The laundry room had to stay clean at all times,so while the machine was running

I wouldtidy up,from my previous shift,I prefered to work in acleanenvironment ,other

words it will bother me at times.Once the linen became clean I then had to put the

linen in the dryer, then Iwould repeat this operation untill my job duties were done and

linen was clean.Working in the Laundry room was aquite place, only the employee in

that department was allowed in there and nurses that needed to get linen,to dress

there residents for a particulsr occasion, normally there are clothes in the residents

room for the nurses to have access to.

At times this was hard work, because if the previous shift did not labe the residents

name inside the clothing it becamed unclaimed.Sometimes there undergarments

wasn’t labeled and a resident needed to have this,so they would use old

undergarments that were clean from past residents.During my downtime I would walk

around and deliver clean linen that was needed in each unit,I enjoyed doing

this, because I would carry conversations with the residents and sit in

there rooms,I felt like a part time companion, however this was not part of my job

duties, but there was a open way for me to communicate with the resident.

They had this beautiful huge dining room I had to enter to deliver clean dining

table cloths, while also I was picking up the old ones, not far there was the activityfun,

room and sometimes I was asked to participate,if I had downtime in my ob duties,I

enjoyed being with the residents it was alot of fun,so you can say that I had floater

position, but was only getting paid the rate of a laundry tech, this was okay for me

because I enjoyed being with the residents.

I had a co worker that brought in her poodle every weekend for the residents to

see, this made the residents feel happy and content.I enjoyed this position as a

Laundry Technician, the position requires you to be most of the time working

alone, that was right on for me with my character being introverted type person,it was

the perfect match, while I wasn’t having fun with the residents I would watch my 9

inch television,or just listen to some music, working as a technician there were several

test that I had to take, and get certified,to make sure I was following OSHA guidelines

as a Healthcare worker,I have over 10 years as a Laundry Technician, but now there

is a huge shift in my career to become a Nurse, but most of all being a Laundry

technician isthe best job I’ve had.

    and still

  36. Last summer my best friend took me to her grandfather’s house with her. We got on swimsuits and slipped around under a sprinkler at dusk. Once we dried off, we went out into woods with her little cousin and caught fireflies. I remember feeling how soft and fragile they were. We would slip them into big tomato sauce jars and watch them sparkle. Eventually, it began to rain, and we watched them flutter up into the dark blue sky. Nothing can be so gentle, so quiet, or so accepting.

  37. Okay, ‘Fireflies’ by Owl City is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard. The painstaking vocals and lyrics make me want to stab myself with an ice pick. I have to leave whenever it is being played.

  38. the fireflies glowed like distant candles alng the trail. flickering as they flew by. i tried to make out the path in front of me, but in the darkness it began to fade and i headed into the unknown.

  39. fireflies rise from the pits of hell, to show that hope exists even in the darkest times. Their little green glow flickering to block the black abyss below. They come to earth, just to remind us, that not everything’s bad, not everything’s dark and not all si lsot, not quite yet.

  40. Fireflies sparkling, plush terrain beneath us, slick sharp shimmering blades, fresh and fertile. The moon summons your hopeful lust.
