  1. His eyes flare as we stare each other down. I can’t tell if the flames are anger or something else – something more intimate. His face is expressionless and he’s fighting to keep it that way. I wish he would say something because I won’t be able to keep my composure if I break the silence myself.

  2. A flare shot to the sky. Someone was in need of help. I sprang to my feet and started running. As I found my way over the hills to the shore I could not believe what I saw.

They expect us to be different and express ourselves yet they also say that we should fit into a mold. Why bother having that personal flare if we will look just like someone else?

I’m a bit too plain Jane sometimes but I would just rather be practical about the things in life. A t-shirt and Jeans is the way to go. I hate how everyone expects me to have that girlish ‘flare’ and look super lady-like. If there’s a way for me to be cute and still comfortable and practical then sign me up.

  34. I was one of the unfortunate victims who fell under the trap of flare jeans, even the bell bottoms that came back. Flare jeans aren’t the worst things I use to wear, though. I remember wearing two different shoes to school and I also remember duct taping toy horses to my shoes (which I swear was for wacky shoe day, but my friends say this was a regular occurrence). Years later I once asked my mom how she ever let me leave the house in the ridiculous outfits I’d wear to school. She said she took it as a phase, and assumed (hoped) I would grow out of it. I did.
