  1. in the chilly autumn air,
    they spread their wings,
    ready to leave,
to go to that warmer place.
    and so they say goodbye
    to the north,
    and take flight.

    Peachies
  2. well, there’s no time to enjoy the scenery, no sir. there’s no time to check out the trees and the sky. look forward. and i’m warning you, if you fail to follow my advice you’re a dead man. they’re gonna take everything you’ve grown to love, and they’re going to rape it.

don’t fuck around with them right now.

    Dalai
  3. The airplane went up in the air and I began to feel breathless. I was sitting next to a man, already asleep, whom I could tell was on his way to cheat on his wife. He was going to a business trip for sure, and business is the sneakiest mistress.

    Heather
  4. um, its what lots of people wish they could do, but i personally think i am just fine on the ground. instead of people wishing that they can fly around i think they should make better wishes…maybe perhaps no wars or maybe no horrible poverty and death across the world. but afterall, i guess flying is pretty fun, selfishness, a human condition.

  8. The air was mist, outside of heaven street. The light colored pink clouds smiled with delight, seeing the first African American president make his way to success. While he waved at his fellow Americans, he saw a white streak of puffy cloud, abouve his head. He immediately went to his wife.

  9. I have always thought that maybe, somewhere, my fight or flight response was screwed up. That instead of even having the option, I was granted with a default mode: flight. I never wanted this but I know that I will always run, that I will always avoid or push away, because that is safer. I don’t want to be safe

  12. Fight or flight?
What’s worth fighting over, and what’s worth losing?
You were never worth a second of my time.
I should have lost you a long time ago.
You were parenthetical at the least.
    What makes us fight?
I hate it, but I certainly choose it over flying.
    I’ve never been a coward.
    That was always your job.

  13. the feet leave the ground in a flurry
so that breath is stolen and everything is a white and blue blur.
What’s the difference between falling and flight?
    Probably the impact.
But for a few short moments…

  14. Flight has always been a goal of humankind. Starting with just getting off the ground to being able to traverse from planet to planet, it’s something that humans will always be fascinated with.

    Sarah

  17. If a bird had no wings it could never fly.
Isn’t that what we all want to do one day?
    Soar?
    Though our heavy problems
    are holding us back.
We will never reach that goal we all dream of
until we leave what we want behind.
    The we shall
    all become birds
and soar like there is no tomorrow.
    But when your free,
you never even think about how their might not be.

  18. he spread his wings, running faster. i held my breath and held tighter onto his hand. inside i was sreaming in terror. outside i was to terrified to scream. he jumped, and for a second all i could see was blue. i could feel that we were falling and i squeezed my eyes shut.
he laughed. open your eyes, he said. you’re okay. i did. and i realized that i was.

  19. flight has me running, running like never before. I think the guy behind me has stopped pursuing me so I pause on the corner , not looking back, lungs heaving so hard they’re threatening to snap my ribs. Then the rain starts and the chase begins again and this time I know

  20. Once when I was young
a young boy sat down beside me
when I looked into his eyes
I knew that he was flying
    It happened then so suddenly
    it happened without care
that little boy, he hugged me
and I took to the air.

  21. birds like to fly…gary wants to get his pilot’s license so that he can fly too one day…Cullen started flying way earlier than Gary…Gary’s first flight was in the 7th grade…Nimitz has never flown before but we may stow him away on the flight to Virgin Gorda…he will probably bark a lot

    jenny dickerson
  22. i’ve never been on a plane in my life. as much as this terrifies me, and as much as i think it would be so ironic for there to be any kind of problem, i still really want to conquer the fear and take a trip.

    dina
  23. planes in the sky clouds and birds dont fall stay aflight. wings and feathers floating on air. can i only just fly away. it isnt much to ask. fly away.

“ahaaa!” i yell in pure joy

…does this have a point or pourpose?
am i supposed to write fiction about flight or what flight is?.

    bob
  25. flying is something my dad use to do. He got his pilot’s license when I was really young and he would take me up in the airplane with him when he was flying. He would take me by the house and my mom and little brother would come outside and wave to us. It was something really fun that we did together. I really miss those times.

    Meg
  26. Flying high as the clouds
Nothing but sky between you and the ground
    Wings as solid as steel
    And yet you fly
Bewildering as you stumble in your mind
    Only to think
    What if I’m not flying
    But falling
The plummet would surely feel free
But would the experience ever be quite the same?

    Davin
  27. i want to spread my wings and take flight. flight is what one must do when in dire circumstances. sometimes its not about where you flee to, it’s about what you’re fleeing from
without flight, what would we dream about? what would we revel in? we really dont like any place we’re in, we like the flight, the journey, to get there.

    Matt
  28. when i was little, i used to want to fly like a bird. i would imagine myself so free, so careless, floating above the clouds and imagining what was going on in the world below… silent, tranquil, peaceful. in fact, i still wonder about these things sometimes. i find it remarkable that humankind has achieved flight, that something as large as a plane can remain in the air.

    Matthew Cameron
  29. oneword is everything together. it fits perfectly. no seperation necessary. everything is alright with oneword, reminds me of oneworld, one love. one people. together.

  31. Flying. The act of moving through the air. Birds do it, planes do it. You’re in the sky, or falling if it happens to ya. UUUHHHHHHHHH……………
I dun know. Birds have wings, so do planes….and bugs too. They all fly…

    Alyssa
  32. I have never flown in a plane in my adult life. I love heights, and I don’t fear terrorism. I just have the feeling that whatever plane I fly in will be the one plane that crashes.

  33. sometimes when i’m high above the world, flying from one destination to another, i like to look at the land below and imagine myself living in the small towns that pass by in the middle of the night. i like to see where i may drive on the main road with some friends in my junker of a car, where i might smoke pot in the fields behind the mall or school, and where i might live if my family had decided to raise me there instead of where i come from. i sometimes wonder how different i might have turned out, why i am who i am today because of where i am from.

    Julie
  34. The flight of the bird caused tiny feathers to float down outside my window. It’s wing brushed and banged against it. I looked down at it laying on the ground, flailing in a circle.

    Jason Shinn
  35. Scared and free at once, I take flight. It feels good to just run, to escape what I fear, all the while knowing that when I land to reality, the fears will still be there. What an escape for just a moment though…

  36. It was dark and the light was bending around the corner. Without hesitation we bolted for the small opening in the treeline. Escaping the complex into the woods was the last chance we had for survival – the guards were right on our tail.

We had no idea that this escape – this flight- would end far worse than we began.

    Jim
  37. a flock of birds took wing, their flight unmarred by obstacles. The birds raucous cries filled the air, the symetry of their movement a sight to behold. How I longed to join their flock, to be part of their group. Such a mindless, instictive thing-to take wing. Oh to be a bird. Without the cares of the human world.

    Roberta Acuti
  38. Cranes planes and automobiles, even though automobiles don’t fly, unless you count that one movie with the DeLorean that travels through time. Jumping off a cliff is kinda like flying, though it’s more falling with style, like Buzz Lightyear. Wish, I could fly, even though I’m scared of heights…

    Ryan
  39. flight of the concords is a dvd set that is sitting on the coffee table in holly murray’s living room/tv room/computer room. i have no idea what it’s about but it’s sitting next to the couch where fred always lies. i’m not allowed to call him fred. he is mr. murray. once i asked if i could call him fred since i see him so much, i thought he’d say yeah. he said no.

  40. the flight took off as scheduled. Sharon sat in her seat perspiring lightly. Bryan, sitting next to her smiled to himself and turned the volume up on his iPod. The piolt came over the loud speaker announcing that they would be arriving in Dallas on time should everything go as planned.
