  2. Forge ahead and don’t give up. I’m finding out first hand that’s a lot easier to say than do. Forging ahead day after day and not yet getting to your goal can really suck your soul at time. It’s tiring, exhausting, deflating and demoralizing. But I’m thinking once I get there…it will be amazing.

  9. i met a blacksmith last week at a confederate fort. he makes horse shoes and nails and curlicued crappe for the home, but he was a real blacksmith. it was a hot summer day but there was a fire going. he said that in easter europe blacksmithing remains a real trade, a way to make a living, not a curiosity. he was in the original blacksmith shop and used the old forge and fire pit that has been there for more than a century.

  28. weaponry, when created by the process of forging, it appears to be related to blacksmith work. Metals of all sorts, bronze, copper, tin, and the like. Forging in general probably can refer to constructing anything, forging relations between nations even. forging requires strength of mind, certainly, to be able to sustain it, whether it is the blacksmith working on sharpening the blade or whether it is ensuring that diplomatic relations remain rock solid.

  31. Forge reminds me of horse shoes and looking at an old fashioned black smith shop. Nowadays, forge refers to getting ahead with something. Weird how forge can mean old and new simultnaeously.

  33. Valley Forge – forge ahead – forgery – all I see right now is a signature and my inability to copy it. Im-possible. Not note not not not. I guess I’ll just fail again. It’s the little failures that count, really. They hurt the most. I hate them. I’m so responsible, yet this year I’ve just been failing everything.

  34. funny isn’t it… to forge ahead means to keep on going, and to forge means to create, but it also means to fake. if you lie enough it’s true; if you decide to take something that hasn’t happened yet and make it happen, you’re doing all of these at once. is that good or bad, do you think?

  36. Forge makes me think of making things. It can mean to cross or to make (forging metal). Forging is a difficult process. It represents work and effort. I think I need to work on forging better, faster writing.

  37. i had a math teacher who would give us five extra points on every test if we got them signed by our parents, no matter the grade. eventually she told us she knew we were going to forge the signatures, so we might as well sign our own names. i loved that math teacher. she was fantastic, a genius, and just a little bit crazy…which i think was the root of all her brilliance.
