  1. Forgotten. A rare word with me. Other than occasional absent mindedness (“I forgot to call so and so!” etc), I forget very little. Much as I try.

Somehow, trying to think of something more to write for this word makes me sad. I either think of “forgotten ones” (like forgotten people, or people left behind… abandoned…) or of things everyone else seems to have forgotten. But I have not. I don’t forget.

  2. what can be forgotten really, memory is in our blood bone and sinew. It walks with us weighing us down , lifting us up and it colors every sunset and filters every conversation. We are our memories. With out them we are shells , perceptive and seeking new memories without identity and meaning.

  3. forgotten. i’m afraid that i’d be easily forgotten by others. i don’t know if i would really make a difference. i don’t want that to happen. but then again i question why it really matters because it won’t make a difference later on anyway..i won’t really know if i am forgotten or not, will i?

  4. I always feel forgotten. Everyone always forgets about me. I don’t know what it is about me that makes me forgetful. I just want to find that one person who cares. That’s all I need. One person, preferably male, but it doesn’t matter. I just need someone there for me.

I wanted every night to be like the first, until that first night was so far behind I’ve forgotten what it was with you I fell in love with in the first place. I don’t want to forget. I don’t want to forget you.

  12. We are the lost and the forsaken. The people who hide in the shadows, the ones who lurk on the edges of society where no one dares to look. We are the ones who hide away from the light of society, not of fear for being shunned, but for fear of being accepted. And because of this, we are wiped from history, taken out of the pool of memories, simply because we have chosen to exist, and not to belong.

  17. And it wasn’t until years later that they found her, lost, in a psychogenic fugue state, working as a waitress in small cafe several states over, one that she co-owned with her new husband, located on the outskirts of the nearest town, one surrounded by dirt roads and tall grasses, where the patrons kicked up dust in old trucks before greeting her with a smile and calling out to her, a name that she had thought was hers all those years but wasn’t; Gretchen. But really, Camille, as she had been her entire life, and remembered when she saw the sleek black car park in the dirt lot, a contrast as glaring and ugly as a missing limb, as ugly as the man who stepped out after his driver had run around to open the door for him, both the car’s and then the door to her cafe, his presence as invasive as a parasite, and he stretched out his arms when he saw, his arms misty with delight at the sight of his trophy, and he sighed relief and said, “My luscious, lascivious, Camille. Tell me, my love. Tell me you haven’t forgotten.” And she backed away from this small, repulsive man and shook her head, wrung the rag she held in her hands and she stepped towards the back room and told him that not only had she forgotten, but she had never remembered. She didn’t want to remember it at all.

  18. I have forgotten things I never knew which is oh so clever for someone of my most humble background. Oh the delights though, to remember a past unwritten and see the ups and downs I never lived. These things could haunt me but I have dispensed of this knowledge.

The hollow feeling inside made it impossible for her to think straight.

  23. In the forest, there was a structure, old and cracked. The roof had collapsed in one place so many years ago, and the door hung from its lower hinge.
Inside was one room that might have housed a family. An iron stove in one corner, a large bed nearby, with bits of roof and debris along the rotting floorboards.
There were no bones, it was clearly abandoned. A detail that had faded from memory, like so many dead gods.
