  1. Glance is a very odd word. You can glance AT someone. A bullet or bomb may glance OFF something, or strike a glancing BLOW. I really have no idea why glance can mean so many things. Perhaps somebody mad it as such.

  2. I took a look over my shoulder, and saw a man in a raincoat standing there in the glow of the street light. He was trying to be subtle, only occasionally peeking at me from under the brim of his hat. He reminded my of old PIs in detective movies, stunningly attractive even though I couldn’t see his face.

  8. At a glance, the music looked awful. So many runs and complex rhythms, I right away knew I didn’t like the piece. But by the time we were playing at our winter concert in a grand concert hall, I had learned to love the piece more than any other music I had played before. It wasn’t so much about the rhythms and the notes as it was about the emotions. I understood music much better because of it.

  10. at one glance he knew that she was the only one for him. His skepticism vanished along with his breath. Her red scarf fluttered in the breeze. How could he have fallen in love when she was so obviously here with another. How could he have fallen in love with one glance. One was all it took.

  13. He glanced at me. Nothing more. It wasn’t a look. It wasn’t a stare. It was a glance. That’s all I’m worth? It’s disappointing to think that I never do anything more than glance at people. I don’t make eye contact. Not if I can help it. I glance up. Just to make sure nothing’s expected of me. What am I afraid of? Afraid of looking? Afraid of staring?

But what it really was, in all honesty, was just the lack of true feelings for each other showing through our intense work in chemistry.

His mind stead fast in his ways at such a young age. It was sad in a way looking at a man like that, one that will never be able to improve upon his own self, but set on improving mine.

  38. One glance was all it took to end her life. There were two, no three things at stake, all rotund glazed-looking morons like donuts with lower IQ, standing around, and it was the one with any hint of sensitivity or sensibility that was chosen. A short glance at one of the fat-armed pustules of humanity slogging away at the vegetable section…and then silence. Later on, officials claimed that it was the broccoli. Whoever said that vegetables were good for you, they paid one well known scientist to sat. They later found him dead, a shattered test tube lodged in his epiglottis.

  40. Skipping off the pond weed, she remembered a time whe she wasn’t able to jump and glance from pad to pad. It was a dark time. Today, however, was a bright time. Taking one last leap of (not faith really at all, more practice and brilliance of mind and body) power, she landed on the opposite bank.
The gate had not been activated.
For once, she didn’t have to go anywhere.
For once, she didn’t have to save the world.
So she went home, had a bath, snuggled into her dressing gown and read a good book.
