  1. Loud, reverberating noises emitting from a large percussion cymbal. The sound of destruction, fear, terror, horror, and yet it possesses a sound of utmost beauty.

    James
  2. the sound of a gong can be something exciting: the end of class, meditation, a period. or it can be the beginning, let’s sound the gong, let’s do go for another year, and make it so incredibly fantastic as it can be. DOOOOOOOOOOOING.

  4. Gong? How am I supposed to write about a gong?
Aside from the fact that it’s a well-known object that implies power. With a mythical suggestion behind it I suppose…

It implies the power to make things happen?

    Matt Conti
  5. lud, don’t be to close to it. Probably ruin your ears. Been around for a long time. Nothing new, not used really anymore, maybe in a symphonie or something of the sort. mostly for sound effect, not really a musical instrument.

    Aaron
  6. The going sounds pound through my heart as the battle begins. Soldiers from every side attack the greatness that was once our ruler. This is mutiny at it’s best. I once knew these people well, the men who stand before me. But now they are all revenging beasts that know what right in their hearts. Odd to think of that.

    Annalisa Foster
  7. the man with the stick seems quite
redundant in the repetitive striking motions made
at the round plated metal disc that seems insistent
on telling you intrusive sounds that drive everyone else into senseless acts of cultural significance
the gathering of fools i should say

    kuri
  8. the gong vibrated and all I could feel was the air molecules going through my bones, my bones that felt hollow as I stood a minuscule ant beside the gigantic temple. the temple of my ancestors, of my past life, of lives to come. and yet I felt so distinctly apart from the world, as if there was a shroud covering me telling me that I was different.

    Claire
  9. oh heavens all i can think of is the gong show…so cheesy, so 70’s. People willing to do anything for a chance to be on TV. Not so different now with all the reality shows. Who would want to do that?

    Kalliope

    jason Blacker
  16. My mind’s gong went off and I ran, mentally, through the maze of guilt, shame and humiliation that accompanies a crime. Nothing new in a day in the life of a failure.

    J
  17. the drum major lifted her hands. It was time for the show to start. As everyone on the field lifted their instruments, the girl at the gong lifted her mallets. She was the first note’s impact, the tone on which the rest of the band carried, and without that hit, the effect was lost.

    Tori
  18. I loved that old TV show where the gong sounded. You know, the one where people did silly things, and were judged on their talent. The night that all of the performers sang the same song was a classic… Can’t thing of the name of the song at all.

    Alison

    yep
  20. It chimes with a splendor that no one can place. A certain chime that rings out, and disturbs peace. Yet brings it as well. Birds chirp along with the ringing tones and fly to a quieter place, and continue the afternoon. The sounds stops, and life goes on.

    Dayna

    time seems to distill
    into small droplets of space

  24. Gong! The pressure of writing quickly. If this were a game show I’m sure I’d hear a gong. I’d be out, gone, the looser. Ahhh! How can I ever get used to writing again? Just keep going!

    Stephanie
  25. It was a piece of art, the gong that hung in the main hall of the palace. Round, polished to a sheen by those who were called to their places by it’s reverberating tones, it was feared and hated by those around it…they chose to wish it gone. Prayed it would be destroyed by someone, anyone.

However, Sisiter Mary Patrick refused to change out the old ways, and kept it in place, ignoring the rolled eyes and heavy sighs of the uniformed students under her care, secretly enjoying their discomfort.
