  9. whenever i think of grapes it reminds me of those egyptian gods who just sit around on beds and get fed by their servants. i always wanted to be those people when i was a little kid. now i don’t really like grapes that much, and i really do not want other people feeding me.

  11. I love the way that grapes are so small and yet have a depth to them that is difficult to fully comprehend. Not only do grapes have a rich colour, whether green or red or purple, but also they are a significant part of the history of the human race.

    Nurgette
  12. grapes are wonderful. if i were a fruit i would be a grape because i would always be with my friends.

    Laura

  14. grapes used to be my favorite fruit. I ate them in unusual amounts. I loved every color. Seeded, With seeds… didn’t matter. All this, until one day, when I ate a sour grape. It never tasted the same after that. I guess this metaphore could be used with fallinf in love

  15. The grapes fell from the counter and rolled under the table. I looked down at them as if from another world. Everything all of a sudden seemed so out of place, so unreal. The second I had gotten the phone call, I knew nothing would ever again be the same. Life as I knew it was over.

  16. of wrath. make wine. squishing under your toes. no full thoughts from me today.

  17. Grapes. Ancient Greece. Feeding grapes into the open mouth of a goddess or a woman that you think might make you something whole if only you were part of her whole… her hole. An aperture in which everything is suddenly bright, clear. You think this is the end all, be all. And then the darkness again. And she is just a girl in a white sheet with crooked lipstick and an affinity for grapes.

  18. Pick me. Pick me off the vine. Put me in your mouth. Peel off my skin. Step on my body. Drunk me. I’m here for you.

    You love me. Right?

    Alex "Brownie" Browning
  19. purple and green. These small branching things. Like veins the move out in all directions from the source. Trying to find their own way. Where are they running to? Where are we running to?

    John Benson
  20. Grapes are green or red spherical fruits that can be turned into raisins if you would really prefer that. They are very tasty with a tangy but sweet taste and they are super delicious. They are my daughters favorite fruit just about. Grapes are nutritious but way too expensive.

    Lily Brown
  21. i hate grapes, they’re nasty and squishy. they are green and maroon. not to mention nasty. they come on this stemmy thing, and get stuck in your nose. grapes suck. emily likes them.

  22. i hate grapes. i’ve been allergic to them since i was six, which was when i started throwing up when i drank grape juice. which in turned gave me a certain dissatisfaction with red wine, of the gods, of dionysius. of which jesus created from water. i was told, though, he made oceanspray. pure, healthsome grape juice, those this is ridiculous, since without the fermentation there would be no alcohol, and thus no disinfectant.

What is there to say about Grapes.
    They are fun and fruity.
    Edible, and enjoyable.
They aren’t planning total world domination, like apples, but who knows what they have up their stems.

  25. Purple is one of my favorite colors. It speaks of summer afternoons, sitting in cozy chairs, talking of nothing.

    Julie Rowe
  26. doesn’t matter how much i try to understand it, I think people that make up all these flavors in wine simply don’t have a clue of what they are drinking. How can grapes give all these different flavors? What makes it different from other fruit.

    Ricardo Guraieb
  27. I wondered how many grapes were used to make this bottle of wine I was swiftly consuming as she ranted and raved on about our relationship that she saw as crumbling she was saying how it just was the same anymore and when she finally stopped and looked at me for a reply all I could think about was the grapes that went into making this wine.

  28. grapes are so purple that it touches the soul. The seeds can represent the outrageous attempt to be part of the soul. yummy yet deep.

    Kevin Melgren
  29. When I was 5 my family moved into an old Craftsman style home on 5 acres in the country. In the back, behind the two story pump house was an overgrown thicket of grape vines. My father spent one Saturday with a hatchet hacking through the dense foliage. But when he emerged from there, smiling from ear to ear, he announced that inside was an empty space and that this was once an arbor. We spent the summer out there eating dinner and relaxing. But the best thing was the way the grapes smelled every time I went outside to pick a dark, juicy grape and sit in the swing to savor it. I miss that arbor, 40 years later.

  30. OH YES THE FEELING AS YOU GENTLY DRAG GRAPES ACROSS MY CHIN INTO MY MOUTH. IT FEELS SO GOOD TO BE KING.

    Daniel Arntz
  31. I don’t like grapes. I ate one once in 12th grade and it was gross. My 7th grade teacher came into my law and government class and gave them only to the girls to tease the boys who were hungry. I ate it out of spite. I only like grape bubblegum and jelly. I hate strawberry jelly.

    Kiersten

  33. She sat and waited for the email. It used to be ‘waiting for the call’ but she doesn’t really do the phone thing. She’s eating grapes, and she’s waiting.. and waiting. She just moved here, and she just met him. She didn’t expect to meet anyone. It was random. A chance encounter. She really likes him, she has to admit. She doesn’t like admitting that for some reason. About anyone. She’s just getting used to be being back in ‘real life’ mode. He emails her. She isn’t sure what to say back. She smiles and waits until later to get back. Maybe when her head is more clear. She’ll go watch a sitcom or two. Paint her nails. Finish off her grapes. Life is interesting. Confusing but interesting. She thinks he likes her.

  34. the grapes were trickling down the hill. they had fallen off the trees in Tuscany, and were tired of being turned into wine.
So my mom grabbed the goat hammer and chased them, pulling at their teeth every so often. Sometimes that happens, you know. Grapes do bite quite hard. And after all, you never can trust anyone, not even grapes and stuff. You know?

    sandra
  35. When I think of grapes, I think of wrath, it’s a quick association that has nothing to do with Steinbeck, but everything to do with this sour feeling I get sometimes and the ambiguity of it all when one considers the sweetness of grapes. I think of heady wine, and sorrowful drunkeness, I think of raisins, and dryness.

    Andrew Chung
  36. when the ripe grapes were ready to pick, i knew that i was in for trouble. no one discovered that i had spliced a new strain into the old plants. would they come out alright? would they be ok tasting? who knew…not I

  37. grapes of wrath? why wrath. grapes of happiness. bustling bumbling bursting juicy grapes, round and bublbous and bursting with sweet, sweet grape juice and hard little seeds. grapes of joy. grapes of terror? grapes of sadness drying up in the sun (a raisin.)

    Emily
  38. grapes aren’t my favorite food, but they are my second favorite fruit because they’re as good as water but they have more flavor and they remind me of days when kem and i used to sit around all the time in the summmer and go riding in her new car cause she had just turned sixteen and i was ten or eleven and we were best friends back then and we had a good old time but of course good things don’t last so instead of riding around with kem in her not so new car, i’m sitting here staring at bowl full of grapes and it makes my heart break, one beat at a time.

  39. Grapes. Wine.

Oh the drunkenness of a teenage party. Why would you allow yourself to go like that?

You spend the nights puking your guts out, you spend the nights on the couch.

Why would you choose someone like him? I don’t understand. What is his appeal? HE has none for me: neither charming or decent. Intelligence is amiss for me.
