  1. The sweaty stink of chalk clouds my lungs as I turn to face the bars. I am not ready to try giants yet, but the coach wants me to, in fact, announces it to the gym so I have no choice. I draw my arm across my forehead to clear stray hairs from my face before I mount the bar.

  2. Hmpff! What a very strange place for me to be! Never had any fun here before, doubt that I will now. No music, no nothing, just people working out. What do I need to kno about this gym

  4. the gym is a place where its uncomfortable. there are always the rock hard body builders pumping iron on the center of the floor. and then the soccer moms trying to lose the love handles from the winter before, buzzing away on the elipitcals. who likes the gym anywans?

  6. I literally just wrote about the gym before I registered for an account. I’m still eating the pasta I mentioned previously and it’s still equally delicious. I wonder if oneword.com is trying to tell me something by repeatedly telling me to write about the gym. Oh well.
That’s all I have to say about that.

  7. place of solace and competition. where you can be one with yourself or come together with others. where you decide not to care but to do, to do what feels right and good to stretch your muscles and be the best you are.

  8. i’ve been going to the gym lately and i’ve discovered that ppl, while interested in health, still use the as a place to show off

  10. i just wrote on gym, i figured it is due to fact that i wrote the passage yesterday night well past 12 and therefore i don’t have much to share , i leaky and lazy nature has landed me nowhere!

  11. I hate going to the gym. Any sports activity really. The correct word, I believe, is sweatshop. I was one of those kids who was always the last one on the bench when teams were picked. A classic nerd. But then again, who really likes people that spend every waking hour in the gym?

    Emmi
  12. i never go to the gym. it’s not because i don’t want to be healthy, i just really don’t have the time or energy. plus i don’t like working out in from of people. the word in general reminds of me terrible gym classes in elementary school. isn’t there an alternative? gyms are not my thing. it’s a three letter curse in my book ;)

  17. I like to play basketball in the gym. I also like aerobics and watching other people play. I didn’t like gym class as a child but I appreciate it a lot more now that I am older. I hated relay races when we would do those in school. I also really hated dodge ball because I was always the first one out and I was afraid of the ball. I am glad they banned dodge ball from schools because I don’t think I’m the only one who hated dodge ball in school.

  18. The gym is probably simultaneously the most positive and most negative place one can be. It has the power to change lives, improve and streamline so many peoples self-concept. Sadly, just like the real world, to go here, one must still deal with showy, conceited individuals. Sweat, and tears, and not so hidden fears. The giant mirrors will reflect a stark truth, but a positive future.

  19. the women who have taught me gym, there was ms Davenport who was built like a small sofa and has beehive hair that wobbled dangerously when she occasionally ran, there was never a chance she would make it the whole length of the hockey pitch!

  21. The gym is my refuge. It’s where I can let out all my aggressions, any frustrations, in a positive way. Every step I take on the treadmill moves me closer to good health and a solution to my challenge of the moment.

  22. the gym locker-room was ripe, smelling of urine, sweat, frustration and fear. This is where men came to shape themselves into the media portrayed vision of beauty. Sculpting themselves into puppets. Puppets of mass muscle tissue, steroids and rage, just waiting for that moment to beat up a homosexual or a women.

  26. I have gym class second hour everyday. that was really weird because my friend and i were talking about gym class and then the one word is gym. that was really scary and is fueling the theory that instead of the world exploding or whatever technology is going to take over the world.

  40. She stood on the scale in the corner of the gym’s locker room. She watched the other girls go in and out. They were all so beautiful. Their skinny legs didn’t jiggle as their tennis shoes hit the tiles. Their sweat perfectly kissed their necks. She looked into a mirror at herself. Her shorts were tight against her ghost white thighs. Her tank top hugged her tummy, which she had been sucking in. Her sweat matted the hair on her head, and dripped down her forehead. She hated working out at this gym. Instead of getting her in shape, it just made her hate her body more. The number 150 on the scale burned in her mind as she went to the bathroom stall to get rid of the weight of her breakfast.
