  1. No, I did not cry out like you would have expected. No scream, nor moan, nor sound of any kind escaped my lips other than the breathing. Lost, I shook and sat on one edge of the moss covered concrete thing…may have been a bridge at one point, maybe it held railroad tracks. Looking through the expansive yellowing treetops as the sky darkened and the blade grew colder and colder in my hands. I’ve always said I could never live in the country. Don’t you remember? For the sounds are so different when there are not a thousand and one others to drown them out or make them seem less like a threat and more like an after thought.

  4. Help is something that everyone needs but sometimes have a problem asking for it. Nobody makes it by themselves. You need help to get information, you need help to get an education, and you need help to not feel like you’re alone.
    Help comes to those who are willing to ask for it.

  7. Help! I needed it so desperately. But all I got were looks that told me I was not understood. They would not see my suffering, no matter how loud I screamed for help. Inside. I was screaming inside, crying inside, tearing up inside. But still – no help….

  8. Help is not what it was. People aren’t around any more. Finding help is hard. Asking for help is hard. No-one wants to help but everyone wants help. Help shouldn’t be extended like a loan; offered with the hope of interest in return. It should be free.

  11. I am so used to remaining silent when all I want to do is scream for help. It’s too hard to ask for it, to want it. Needing it is enough to make me cringe. Only when it is unsolicited do I begin the process of resigning myself to accepting this awful, awful gesture.

  15. They were the ones we hired. Mostly Mexican at the time. Then later ones from further south in Central America, finally the further South Americans arrived. There was work aplenty and we tried to page a fair wage.

  23. help we cry for it, we search for it when we recieve it we are relieved with a sense of fullness and we feel like we are not alone. Help is it only of another or can we too just help ourselves. There is much to be thought about, when do we need help, and when do we just cry for it.

  24. Help is a very good word and is understood by many, thank God for that. When one is in distress or requires the assistance of somebody else they can simply call for help and surely someone will assist them!

  27. Help me. I think I’m going mad. I’m here to write my feelings instead of dealing with me. But that’s just like me, isn’t it. It’s just like me to run away. Actually, I’m not sure it is. Do I run away? You tell me? Of course, you can’t, you don’t even know me in the first place.

  28. It suggests me desperation, lack of hope. It may be used in an emergency case, but right now it makes me think about losing yourself while trying to know yourself. And you ask for help in order to find your way back.

  29. everyone should be helpful person. helping needy and the poor and the underpriveledged is the best deed one can do. you should understand and be able to place yourself in the shoes of the person who is in need of help because you could be in their shoes too, someday.

  32. Everyone basically need some form of help throughout their lives. When we are still students, we need academic help from our teachers or classmates and when we graduate and is working, we need some help from our colleagues. But these are just the fundamental ones. As humans we need psychological help all the times. We need comfort during failures, we need support when facing uncertainties… Thats what friends and faimilies are for.

    I looked around frantically. With the waterfall’s noise pounding in my ears, it was nearly impossible to tell where Cara had been calling from. But that was her voice, I knew. Clear as a bell and unmistakable.

    “Clara!” I called, my voice taking on a desperate note. I began trotting down the side of the river. “Clara, hang on! I’m coming for you!”

  36. It is a tough situation when one needs help and they don’t know it. It takes a huge amount of strength to be able to realize it, and it takes a soldier to be able to say the words “I need help.”

  38. Fische springen ins kalte Wasser. Einfach so. Menschen lassen sich da mehr Zeit. Machen erstmal die Arme nass, dann die Beine, gehen Zentimeter für Zentimeter tiefer rein. Dadurch wird es natürlich nur noch schlimmer. Einfach reinspringen, das wär’s. Das würde alle Probleme lösen.

  39. He needed help but he did not know where to turn. The problem was a fairly simple one that most people could help solve but he didn’t know that and he didn’t know that the kind of people he was asking help from were not classified as most people.

  40. I refuse to ask for help. Everything I need to do I can do myself. When I get in trouble I turn to booze. Booze has never let me down. It’s good to know that I always have a friend I can rely on, even though I will never need help from anyone.
