  11. Hurricanes are physical nightmares, a spectacle to behold. Everyone carries a hurricane inside, it’s the inner force that drives every move you make, every word you say. Some people call it love, others call it will, and even others call it fate.

  12. the water and wind bash the houses as the storm front moved across the coast. this seems oddly familiar to the everyone who has seen the end coming, soon, itll all be over with. all the pain, the struggle, the lost desire, it will all just disappear.

  13. These awful winds that can cause such havoc, especially on the east coast, can also bring blessed rain to area suffering from extreme drought. However, of late, there have not been very many hurricanes in the US since Katrina, although they have been predicted, erroneously. Is that a good thing? The predictions, I mean. Well, it really doesn’t affect us except in a psychological way–the predictions, I mean. Weather forecasting, especially long-range is still more of an art than a science, and so we should be grateful for those hurricanes that bring soothing relief and dread those that cause such pain and misery.

  14. Powerful yet radiant when the eye sits perfectly still hovering over the sky. So peaceful it becomes for so little awhile, until the raging winds take control and everything is swept away. So long…so long…

  15. When I was younger I always wanted to see the full force of a hurricane. I’m not sure why. When I was 14 I finally saw one. It is one of the most amazing things anyone can ever see or experience. The sheer power that is around you, within you. It reminds you how utterly small you are.

  16. Something that I desperately want to see. It’s my perversity, I know, my desire to be close to destructive nature. It’s an attraction to grandeur, and to death, and to God. There is no other form for Him, I would think, than that, than this.

  17. The most predictable of all natural disasters, they still manage to screw up so very much. It’s ridiculous how much the history of the Gulf Coast has been shaped by these, from 1900 (Galveston, the huge port city that never was) to NOLA (the refugee camp of the country, and don’t you love football too?) all in all, I’d still rather have them than earthquakes–guess it’s the hatred of the West Coast alive and well in me.

  18. Hurricanes are very annoying. People often don’t get very good results from hurricanes. I hate hurricanes because they hurt people and they’re really annoying. Hurricanes hurt innocents and makes me feel bad and awful and terrible. I wish hurricanes didn’t exist in the world anymore.(Sigh)

  19. destruction and purification through wind and hail and rain

  20. Hurricanes can be quite dangerous, but I’ve no personal experiences with them. I’m not sure what to write about them, when I’ve not much to do with them. I guess, maybe, I should be more involved in the world and then I would deal with them more? I donno. I guess we could go to “hurry” like the “hurri” in “hurricane,” but I donno. I guess I always feel like I’m in a hurry, like I have no time.

  22. A hurricane of thoughts assail me, bringing me down into an abyss of dispair, where anguish washes up like the sludge-tide of angst. How could I have done it? Why am I still alive?

I do not know. All I know is that it began with her… with the succubus.

  23. Katrina was the experience I had. Watching it on TV, thinking about how incompetent President Bush and his administration was. A few days later I joined the government to try to help rebuild the region. Fortunately my agency was one of the more competent agencies in the relief effort: the SBA disaster relief agency. We provided over 10billion dollars of loans to help the Louisianans and other gulf business and residents recover.

Well this has gone on for more than 60 seconds. Why are you allowing me to continue to type?

    Jim Walker
  24. Hurricanes are pretty disastrous I think. They cause destruction and loss to families and the government. They’re a natural disaster. Gives famous musicians a chance to do some concerts and raise money for the victims I’ve heard..
yeah. that’s pretty much all I know about hurricanes.

  25. I’ve never been in a hurricane before. I don’t I know anyone who has either. My sometimes looks like its been through one, though. The only time I every really personally worried about one was when I was planning my wedding at Ft. Walton Beach. I really wanted that to be my location so I watched the weather and webcams big time to make sure it wasn’t all destroyed. It wasn’t destroyed, thank goodness. And my wedding went perfect and was beautiful.

  26. reminds me of the song lyrics i used to love. something about a summer hurricane relating to love. and i believe it, cause this summer’s love is absolutely a hurricane. perhaps a monsoon. i can’t get him out of my head, although i know he shouldn’t be there. he’s dangerous. what we’re doing is dangerous. a hurricane might sweep you off your feet, but love will knock you down and might not be there to pick you up.

  30. hurrican’es seem fun in a scary way. In a way that people want to have the bejeesus scared out of them. It’s also a sense of how strong something is. My headache is like a hurricane. Who Cares.

I’ve been in minor ones. And I wanted them to be stronger…to feel loss. That’s sad. I wanted to see more tree limbs flying through windows.

  31. Devistation in the early morning, trees threatening to crush people under the weight hey’ve given way to the strong wings. People scream and run from what was once a nice breeze, a friendly atmosphre, but now it has turned into horror, terror, children being crushed undert hings much to heavy for any force to hold. Peices of homes flung into nothingness.

  38. Malevolent, fierce, dauntingly evil. Wind and pounding rain devoid of lightning. Huddled masses weather the storm in creaky cellars filled with canned food as their homes are destroyed.

  40. hurricane: a drink a fighter, and a natural phenomena. Or weather.

Some people say that hurricanes were originally given girls names because they too were unpredictable, dangerous, and could destroy a man’s life’s work in an instant, yet we still find them both fascinating to be around. Such is life.
