  1. He was her idol.

Paula looked up to this brave bastion of family values, this preacher of ethics. He stood there, defiant in his stand against amorality in a society torn apart by lecherous sinners and malevolent thieves. He made his stand against sin, a stand which most were too week to follow.

  2. I have many idols in life, mostly ones that are musicians that I listen to. I find lyrics or the things that they have gone through to be inspiring, and often find myself looking up to them. Also, if I think something is relateable to my own life, the better. I find it hard to idolize anyone I really know

  3. That’s stupid. Why should we idol someone we don’t know. We should be thinking about role models and not idols. Hasn’t anyone heard of the ten commandments? I wish they would get rid of American Idol and make it “American Pop Star” or something. Idol has a bad name for itself, and its taking more of a plunge already.

    Justin Marcero
  4. My idol was nobody and nothing was my inspiration. I ambled and misambled everywhere and found that this was just as good as that and up was nearly identical to down. And, anyway, you could always go around any monolithic notion that littered your path.

  5. american idol is a relatively stupid show in which aspiring singers can come and portray their singing talent and get judged by a panel of people that dont even know how to sing themselves. the whole world gets to watch american idol and see these people singing. paula abdul will not be returning for the new season.

  6. I’m listening to a lot of music lately. Especially from this year’s American Idol, Kris, mostly because my sister likes him. Simon is my favorite on the show. Ryan just annoys me, but their bantering is kind of funny. I just want Simon and Paula to kiss and get married already. That’s American Idol for you.

  7. star me money stuff carrer

  8. So many people have idols, these days. Hell, american Idol is the only thing people talk about these days. But why do we need idols? Why can’t we be our own idols?

    Mamie
  9. “My idol? I don’t really have one.” The girl answered the question truthfully.
“Don’t have one? Everyone has an idol, it’s like… it’s a thing okay?” The other girls looked at her like she was insane, but it was the simple truth. She just didn’t have an idol.

  13. An idol is a image made by human hands or thoughts that in my (Christian) worldview is something we fill our lives with to meet a need instead of our Creator. An idol is not necessarily a “god” it can be anything that we errantly seek to place in front of God as more important; however it remains something we create FOR ourselves, rather than something we receive from above.

  16. it came to me as a surprise that american idol became the hit show it has. i was a fan for a little while, i can’t lie. but now it’s become washed out and pathetic. the hosts, the judges and even the contestants are grabbing onto something that has little chance of lasting forever. their fifteen minutes is dying fast.

    Billy
  17. America is full of false ones. We have lost our way as a country. American Idol? Really? Where are the FDR’s the Yogi Berra’s, the Einsteins? We have no new heros, no new idols. We must rely on the idols of old.

    Bill
  18. a statue people worship or a person someone likes so much that they worship them or a God or something like that

  19. American Idol is a great show. Really lovely. Yeah that’s bull shit. Why do people like American Idol so much!? I don’t get it! The people really don’t have all that much talent to be honest, and no one ever really buys theirs albums. Fuckin’ Simon Cowell. He’s an asshole, by the way. Why do people keep giving him money?!

  20. REDO, SLIGHT EDITS:

One day when we’re all young, foolish and impressionable we will find an idol we can adore. We will find a god to put on a pedestal, whether they be divine or human, and we will grow up only to watch them fall, to disappoint and reveal their true natures. Then we will realize the beauty in flaws and accept our fates.

  22. One day when we’re all young, foolish and impressionable we find an idol we can adore. We find a god to put on a pedestal, whether they be divine or human, and we grow up only to watch them fall, to disappoint and to grow incredibly and sadly more human. Then we realize the beauty in flaws and accept our fates.

  23. idolize the gods, the sports players, the actors, and the actresses. idolize the singers, the greats. why idolize the lowly? why idolize those who work the hardest, the ones who empty your trash cans and unclog your drains, the ones who volunteer at shelters and soup kitchens, the ones who actually do something for the human race?

    janet
  24. I think of that dumb show american idol and a golden calf, wizard billy. Giant on a mountain and lovers and men and women and hermaphrodites bowing to it while it sings lovely, glorious, head-banging tunes out of a giant microphone. Love and maybe hell and damnation? Oh shit.

  30. She was my idol, my everything
but how much does that truely mean?
    The spotlight, the cars
they want to show her how they are
but no one will know what she thinks
because she is only a pawn
what will happen if she has spawn?..

  31. An idol is a person whom you look up to and respect but when i see mine i want to love them and cherish them more. Although i desire to do that i cannot for i my idol is dead and long gone. Like i want to be. But the future of my life is nowhere to belong.

    farihah
  34. I always looked up to my mom… She was my hero in a million ways. She was the one who would tuck me in at night when my dad was out drinking, or when I was scared and needed someone to hold me. If there was one person I could be like, it was her. She isn’t the most perfect woman, but we all have our flaws. I’d take all of hers just to be the woman she is today.

  35. aready did this one, but i dont care gonna keep on writing for the hell of it woo woo woo. i type fast i dont stop to think except then because i said thinking insead of think. oh well, its a free write i stopped again and thats a problem. anyway, idols are pretty cool i guess, but people are fools if they wish to live their lives from some other person’s mold. don’t follow a path, blaze your own.. then cover your tracks

  36. I don’t like kids having famous idols. I wish they could see that there are better people right in front of them. Pop stars and actresses don’t care about them. They have amazing parents, siblings, teachers ,mentors, and friends all around them, and still they choose a person that they’ve never met.

  37. no

  39. The idol stared down as it did eternally from the same spot, with blank, lifeless eyes seeing something we perhaps were missing. With an subtle air of superiority, the tilt of the head reminded us gently that we were all at Her mercy.
