  1. we idolize people in this world who truly don’t deserve it. paris is thin and beautiful but the fat nurse that saves lives “cant take car of herself” so she doesn’t deserve our respect. idolization of appearance is killing our ability to understand others as people.

  7. Now that the word being presented is one that has been used incorrectly before, we can take it a different direction. First, and foremost, an idol can be thought of as a being that is worshiped upon as something for a religious ritual. We are not sure when Idol’s or God’s or religious figures in general first started, but they seem to be dominant within most civilizations throughout both the world and through time.

    Prayers fall of death ears
    Ears of gold and silver
But with no soul to filter
    out the words
    of the people
    calling in vain
    to them
    Searching
    For truth
    For…security

So far away he couldn’t and wouldn’t ever find it.

  33. Idol.
That which we love, and that inspires us. If we look to an idol, it can cause us to dream, to dicover what we ourselves would like to achieve. Our horizons are expanded by such admiration.

An idol can also be a trap. That person can do what I cannot. Then envy sets in and becomes a deterrent to our own unfolding potential.

All in all, we need idols. The law of reflection will see that something gets realized.

Sadly, this is the first thing that comes to mind when i see the word “idol.” How true to the fact that our lives are truly taken over by outside sources- the media, the internet, celebrities, etc. If only I first thought of MY idols- all the people who are able to get away from all the media.
