Are you ill? Are you? Illness can be the only explanation for your behavior back there, Maria. Why do you do these things? Why do you just stare at me this way?

The thought of what she had to do made her ill.
Yet, it was the only way to remove the evidence…and keep them both safe.
So she took a few deep breaths,…
i’m not afraid of dying
rather, i’m afraid of not living
sometimes life feels lifeless
the world is ill, consumed by illness
i cannot fathom an attempt
to continue in this worthless state
i am saved by the concept of no other state

It cuts deeper this time. Further down into the depths of my already weak stomach, further into my soul. Wishing to rewind to when laughter penetrated through my lips instead of empty words. I am ill in a way I have never known before.

If you do not want to be ill, don’t go see a doctor. Their life’s blood is saying you are ill and telling you that you must take many tests to determine what you are ill with. You’re never told that it’s easily curable and thus does not need medicines or more tests or continual visits to the doctor. Just go home, turn on Netflix, turn off your phone, and soon you’ll be all better. You’re never told that it’s so awfully incurable that you better just go home, turn on Netflix, turn off your phone, and prepare to die.

What makes one ill? It can range from a physical entity in the form of a disease or sickness to an expression of disgust. For the latter, it is an external emotional state, triggered by multiple factors which vary from person to person. The simple fact of being ill can correspond to an alteration in one’s mental, emotional and physical well-being. However, it is a passing feeling that is just part of a whole complex myriad of emotions.

a state that you dread, that can be either physical or mental, an inability to be normal, to move, to feel happy. a state when you are not yourself. a state that reminds you of the beauty of life and how wonderful it can be when you are feeling well

Shannon was pale. Shannon was ill. Shannon was still in bed with chills. Shannon couldn’t swallow any pills. Shannon was very ill.
They tried needles. They tried kisses. They tried prayers and frivolous wishes. They tried potions and porridge from dishes. Shannon was still very ill.
Shannon then died. Her mother cried.

She sneezed again. Her head felt foggy and she was cold and hot at the same time, shivering and still to warm to cover up. Her tissue box was running precariously low. Now, where had she put the Ibuprofen?
She felt that familiar twinge in her stomach and she tried to push everything out of her mind. This wasn’t helpful.
