  1. When I was a young girl, I hated peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I hated their gooey, thick texture and their boring two-note flavor. I had them far too many times, yet now, I don’t mind them. I guess it takes about ten years to gain a better perspective of those things you used to hate.

  2. Race you to the tree house.
Under green leaves, change to gold, falling on us.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches near the swing set.

That was us when we were younger.
    But everybody grows up.

  8. I ate a bowl of jelly one day, and choked. There she was, the girl of my dreams. She stood there, her blonde hair off to the side, her blue eyes twinkling, as she asked. “Can I have some jelly?” And that’s when our forever began… with a bowl of jelly.

  9. and i am the colour of a raspberry jelly from embarrassment looking you in the eye across the room because you make me sick and i am unsure how i did it without closing my eyes and wincing as i relive the smell of your pungent breath similar to brighton beach or fish guts sometimes on a bad day rotting in the sun with my feelings.

  13. I like jelly, but not with peanut butter. Not with any butter, actually. I remember once when I was very small, my father was set to the task of making me lunch, which he never did. He put butter under my jelly. I hid from him and cried, because I couldn’t possibly eat that, but I didn’t want to make him feel bad or make him feel bad about me, because of it. I remember hiding. Hiding and crying.

  19. Grape jelly was her favourite thing in the world. Grape jelly on toast. Her grandmother had introduced it to her when she was a child, and the taste, the smell, the texture always reminded her of Sunday afternoons. After church her family would visit her grandmother, and they would have a light lunch of soup, always followed by grape jelly on toast.

  20. I wish I had grown some grapes this year because then I could have made homemade jelly. I also could make tomato jelly I guess but that sounds gross. I’d eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but my mom bought the cheap kind which I don’t like. I think I like plum jelly best.

  21. jelly’s really good with peanut butter in sandwiches. I’ve gotten my friend hooked on it. It’s also good alone, but never mix it with medicine to “help it go down”. The texture is just eww on your tongue.

  26. Jelly. You have a jelly heart. No, that is not a bad thing. But it is not good either. Some words can bounce right off, where other, if hard enough, can hurt it, and cause many scars. But also, once in there nothing ever leaves and it is always safe. You have a jelly heart.

  29. Where had he gone? One moment he was in clear sight and then he had melted away. He had been a solid form, rather like an old sepia photograph, but with a clear, sharp shape and definition. As I came closer he become a shadow and blurred, as though viewed though a thick jelly, before he blended with the background and vanished.

  30. i like jelly it wobbles on the plate and tastes like rasberries and summer time and ice cream. Jelly is like childhood, you can make it into shapes like bunnies. I wish I had a pool i could fill full of jelly and jump on.

  31. You jelly? A phrase that is completely and utterly ridiculous but has matriculated into the vocabulary of everyday for teenagers.

“Oh look! I got a 90 on the test. You jelly?”

“Oh hey, I’m dating that really cute guy over there. You jelly?”

No, friend, I am not jelly. I am not a gelatinous treat made for children. I may be jealous. But not jelly.

    Bonnie Havenga
  33. I love this jelly on my toast every morn.
I feel like I am full of jelly after my grandchild comes to visit.
I look at this jelly fish and I wonder.

  34. Jelly. It’s a weird thing. It’s thick, but it runs. It’s different than all other substances. It breaks the mold or what is usual.

I am jelly. I am different than other. I am not “usual.” I am not “normal.”

And, just like jelly, I’m really proud of it. Normal is overrated!

  35. The jelly was leaking into my lap from my sandwich AGAIN! I was SO annoyed. Why is the stupid jelly so infuriating?! It always has to slip out of my PBJ and get me covered in jelly.

  37. Jelly goes on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches seem like simple things, but they’re not. It is hard to get the right portion of jelly to peanut butter. My mother is the only one who can make it exactly right. Even I can not make it right. I either put too much jelly or too much peanut butter. There are different kinds of jelly but they are all good to me. I think it’s because the texture is what really matters to me. Grape is the one I choose usually, but I love strawberry. It’s delicious. Peach is good too. Apricot jelly.

    Heaven
  38. So this can mean many thing. Jelly as in you’re jealous, right? You jelly? Or the delicious liquid-solid that takes much longer to make than it does to devour. Great for any season. You want jelly in the winter? Go ahead. Jelly in the summer? Yum. Let’s all eat jelly. I’ll make some. You jelly?

    Farah
  39. I call the envious type, “jelly” because their jealous. I could get into detail on scenarios but I’d rather spread them on my bread, cover them up with my peanuts and eat them like the sandwich they’ve become.

  40. I glared at it. A purple glob on the otherwise clean counter. This is what happens when little kids come over, I guess. I don’t eat jelly because it gets on my counters, which must always be clean. my nieces run through my neat house and mess everything up. My mom smiles at them, but I just glare. I’m the one who’s going to have to clean that up.
