a small container of light filled with fire and oil often used in the olden days to light the way at night or in caverns there are traces of lanterns being used in the gigantic mammoth caves down in Kentucky which I explored on my trip across the United States last summer. Lanterns are great.

I think of the 冰灯(bing1deng1), which means ice lantern in Chinese. I imagine these beautiful, glass-like carriers of light floating up into the sky…scientifically impossible, but in my dreams. I’ve always wanted to let fly a lantern up into the sky…

strung up on a warm summers night. people laughing, glasses tinkling. the grass has shadows. children bask in the glow, their smiles illuminated. they quiver on their strings in the breeze, dancing along with everyone else. they are happy to be light.

When the lantern turns on, my thoughts automatically turn to you. The light of my days, what I would live for, what led me forward and through the darkness to the light. And when I got there, it wasn’t there. But I still appreciate you all the more, even though you weren’t there. Because you led me through the hard times.

I don’t really have much experience about lanters, but when I think of them I think in symbolic terms. A lantern is a beacon. Lanterns are reliable companions in the midst of darkness, ever present.

She lighted the little candle inside the pink paper lantern and left the lantern on the highest branch that she could reach. Went she went back the next morning, it was still there. And she never set foot in the forest again.
The lantern held a single candle and Joel’s fate inside it. He readied himself, and threw it into the gasoline puddle. Then, he ducked his head and ran, saying good-bye silently to the empty home he had once loved. When dawn finally emerged, he was a new, free man.

A light thing that uses oils to light an area. hand held. It was used as a medium of light before the light bulb.

Light that iluminates all the spaces. Clarity. Happiness and hope inside the darkness. Truth hidden inside a tube. A tube of veracity.

It was the only thing I could see, approaching through the fog. I wasn’t sure I’d seen it at first. It might have been a trick, betrayal by my own eyes. But no, there it was, glowing yellow in the night. It got brighter as I neared. With it came the hope of a warm bed (or at least a warm dinner.) And sure enough, I had both within the hour.

i was going through a cave. it was almost midnight. no one knew i was here. no one knew where i was at all for that matter. the lantern in my hand was the only source of light for miles. I could sense someone behind me but when i held up my lantern nothing was there.

There was a lantern hung up in the dark cave. It seems that it had been conveniently placed there for someone… He walked toward it.

Well, uh, lanterns light the way. I guess. Why else would they be there? To make you happy? Maybe, if lanterns make you happy. Who knows.

When the world seems so dark, everything looks the same. You cant see your feet but who cares. your just walking through the dead of night. Guided by that little bit of light. Walking in the dead of night. Guided by the little bit of light.

So she turned and kept walking. Her snowshoes kept her from falling into the deep deep snow. It must be at least a couple feet by now, she thought. She bowed her head and allowed her mind to drift to thoughts of home. She hoped the tea kettle was on.

Lanterns light the way for everyone. They are also a symbol at my school and they are in every classroom. But they are not stylish so I hate lanterns. Gross. I like lights though, they’re chill. Lights!!!!

From the end of the hallway I could see nothing but the blackness that poured out in front of me. The faint hope knocking at my door became a stark darkness that enveloped my entire being. The light became a reason to run.

there was a lantern and it was scary. during the night of halloween, which happened to be this night, a lantern came to life. it started with the smile evil and cruel and from there it’s life began. the flicker of candle sparked his eyes; they looked like hell. his inside were rotten to the core, oh such a sight.

there is a lantern in the middle of a field. It is glowing its soft embery glow in the midst of the darkness of the night. How did it get there? Where is the person that left it there? Will they return? How did they get around in the dark without the lantern? Perhaps they turned it on during the day, and left its light to guide someone else’s way.

I mosied through the dark corridor, the yellow light bouncing off the walls. The wallpaper was pealing, and the dust rose from the carpet with each hesitant step. I let loose my breath, I had already been holding it for over a minute. I heard a groan emanate from the basement, then my lantern extinguished itself.

I saw him walk by the porch. He was carrying a lantern an muttering something about “those damn kids”. He didn’t look angry. Just sad. He never looked just angry.

this is a thing that gives off a magnificent glow, a glow that warms your heart. it relieves you from stress, makes you feel happy and confident. and it’s fun to play with them in the dark:D
There was a lantern, a healing lantern. To whom ever lit it, received great healing. To which ever disease or ailment, this lantern cured many. It was only until it broke, that true terror broke loose.

I saw a lantern on my desk. It was bright, the only light in the dark room. I was a little scared cause of the zombies moaning outside my window. They saw the light. I took the lantern and went outside. It’s zombie killing time!

it s a purple filled lantern…the kinds you see fairies fly around it, attracting all kinds of different fairy dusts as the wings blow the dust all around.. sparklin on the horizon against the background of a sunset, with a gentle breeze, you breathe in the fairy dust and then the shock comes- you turn into a fairy! now you see why the lantern is so critical- it’s the lifeline of every fairy.

lanterns guide my path in the night illuminating paths. the sparkle with the candle that laughs inside of them. lanterns usually were used in the old days but today im sure they are used to reeanct the past. the past, like a lantern, guides our path into the future. it just brings me to think about caves and discovery and new findings. lanterns are romantic yet also mysterious. romance and mystery kind of fit together though. think of a love story where the hero DIDN’T have a lantern. yeah. thats what i though.

That makes me think of China. Why is that? “Lantern.” I’d be surprised if it wasn’t Chineese. Did Greece have lanterns? Probably not.

It was like a guiding light to us…we played in the yard as children, having the time of our lives. We ran about hiding and tagging, but the lantern was always there to call us home..to shine across the path so we weren’t afraid. Now it shines to my mother, as a memory what a world we once had when we were all small.
James picked up the lantern from the barn floor. Peering out into the moonlight, he searched for his lost cow. That’s the last time I’m buying feed from Old Man Ferguson, he thought. Damn cow’s gone looking for greener pastures.
a light shines from the lantern leading the way home. It has been a long sluggish journey with fits and starts, never the right supplies, never enough information. Finally though we are near and safe. A journey that

The girl carried her lantern, cold and solemn she wondered up the path from the light house, who’s light no longer brightened her way. As a crimson tear rivered its way down her neck, she was suddenly aware of the the throbbing in her temple. Wiping the sweat off her brow, her white sleeves which were once as pure as she, were now tarnished and torn. The blood and sand mucking their perfection, telling her story. She could taste salt and rust, a mixture of the summer sea air, her tears, and the blood that trickled past her mouth to her collar, staining her shirt as well as her young naive soul.
this brings the green lantern corps to my mind, and makes me then jump to the power of will and how it overcomes fear and with the will anyone can do anything than go on to achieve their dreams and the ultimate goal with is happiness. The green lantern is also a super hero that can do anything with only his will wich represents the human race and is a powerful statement.
