there was this couch in my basement. it smelled like a hamster and a new car when we first got it. my friends were over and we were watching tv and laying on blankets waiting for my mom to come home with bagels. somehow i relate this memory to peanut butter. i still have that couch.
Her feet dangled within the confines of her leather sling backs as she lazed about on the couch with a book in hand. She took another bite of her apple, a bit of juice dribbling down her chin. Wiping it away lazily with the back of her hand she turned the paged and read on.

The pinnacle of comfort somehow always falls short of satisfactory, with leather. However, I’ll keep wearing in new pieces to savor.

Her skin was dry and seemed as though it would be thick to the touch. She imagined, oddly, some man pulling, tanning, stretching, giving her the appearance of age. I wondered how old she was, on the inside, how young she felt.

“Damn it,” she cursed loudly, pulling off her shoe. “Not even thirty miles, and look at the state it’s in!”
He looked over and sat beside his partner, taking the leather boot from her before she threw it. “You’re right; I hope the boss didn’t pay too much to outfit us with crap like this.”
“Leather pants?” I asked, not wanting to believe what I was seeing. “Really?”
She just shrugged. “They were on sail, I needed to add to my collection.”

It is my fantasy. To buy a green, long Jaguar with wooden insides and beige leather seats. The wind in my hair when I shall drive during a summer afternoon, or the ticking of the rain on the windscreen, my well manicured nails on the wheel, my high heels just touching the brakes. I don’t know how old I shall be, I don’t know whether other people will be in the car, I just know it’s me, in my stylish car, my hips resting on lustrous leather seats, the road ready to surrender under the wheels, the sun going down.
