Locked up, they won’t let me out. Akon has a great voice. Where is he now? He was at the top of all the charts in middle school and then he disappeared. Where are you, Akon?

I was locked in a dark room, the only source of light was from the crack under the door. I looked to see where I was, all I could see was a white pair of reebok tennis shoes briskly walk by.
My computer locked up this morning. It took at least 10 minutes before I successfully logged in. This is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the one word today.

When something is locked, you want to get inside, but there is no way. Searching for another way in, you begin to panic. How do you get in? Worst of all, what is on the other side? What do you do? What if it is something you want to open to see what is inside, like a box? You don’t want to break it, but you know no other way. Where is the key? You are helpless, but you won’t give up yet. What is inside, and how do you find out?

He was banging on the door with his fist, swearing at me to open up, let him in, face the music. I cowered. He had installed extra locks on the door because I was scared of the burglars, home invaders, punks I had read about in the paper and seen on Fox News. I did not realize they would be my husband.
“It’s locked,” Mary said as she furiously shake the doorknob.
While this was happening, John was looking around the room, looking for some clues or
weaknesses in the structure.
He sighed. It was his fault for trying to enter an supposedly abandoned building.
I was worse that despite Mary’s warning, she decided to accompany him in.
Now that they were captured by the secret cult living in the building, John felt despair.
Panic rose from the two of them, both of them having the same question in mind,
“Is this the end?”
She clicked the door shut and jiggled the handle. Secure. Nothing to worry about. She quickly went to close the curtains. She wasn’t taking any risks. Once the perimeter was secure, she sat down to open the box.
Before any sports game I need to be locked in. If I’m not in my game ready mood, than I will not perform as well as I usually would. My teammates and I will get pumped up together before the game so we will be ready. All of this will help us perform better than we usually would.

Locked. The door is locked. I should know, for I looked it myself. Whirring in m mind is a voice telling me that it is not. Whats the harm in checking? If I do not check, we can all die, a death that could have been avoided so easily if only the door was locked. In these rituals, every day, without fail, I am locked.

“Get us out of here!” screamed Ivan.
“I can’t!”
“Get us out of here NOW!”
“The door’s locked, you idiot!” bellowed Andy, who furiously jostled with the doorknob to prove it. Ivan and she were trapped in the basement of their stepfather’s house, and Ivan was already losing his mind.

The box was locked from the inside. That was peculiar, there was a key on the desk, but the side of the lock that had the keyhole was on the inside, and there was no way to unlock it from this side. Frustrated, Charlotte slid the box off the table, and onto the floor. It smashed in a puff of lilac, glittery, odorous smoke, and reappeared, unharmed, on the table.
The door is locked behind them with a heavy clang. It sounded final, but they knew they’d eventually get out – that’s what they pay so much money for, after all.
He shut the book and let out a strangled sigh. It had been three months since she’d called him for the first time. He pictured her, sitting on her red ottoman, her lips blue and her eyes pink, waiting by the old-fashioned telephone, and he shook his head.
Locked. Damn. He ran his fingers around the edge of the windowframe, trying to find a weakness in the wooden frame. Something moved inside, and he froze. A light flickered on in the hallway beyond the room. He dropped to the ground, his heart racing. Nobody was meant to be home tonight! He bit his lip and hurriedly tried to formulate a Plan B.
