  3. i thought she walked by me today
i checked the pages to make sure
i glanced at her and back again
and shook my head to myself

no, that woman can’t be her
just look at her dry and frizzy hair
it should look soft and effortless
even windswept, even in the rain
and is that a blemish on her chin?
who would lead a skincare campaign
and dare to leave her house like so?
and look, she isn’t wearing sleeves
why are her arms thick as logs?
what are those creases in her skirt
what is that curve above the helm?
she would never let herself become
that slob with the mismatched shoes
her flawless face would melt all
of that gaudy makeup off in protest

there are cracks in her smile
and countless runs in her stockings
    no, it’s simply unthinkable
she cannot be my darling girl

  10. The magazines are all over the floor. I sure hope you children will be picking them up.

  11. Shiny glossy versions of me. Photoshopped beauty in plastic images. My face splayed, put on display, fodder for young girls more vulnerable than me. I see you paging through, I see you caging, caging yourself and wondering why you can’t be me.

I wish I could be me, too. You have no clue what I try to be I just wish you could see.

  12. Magazines largely seem like a waste of time. The same content, over and over. Little blurbs taht don’t really go into depth on any certain thing. Flimsy paper that just gets recycled. Now a journal, a good old academic journal, that’s more like it. The information is almost TOO deep, it’s worth my money and I learn something important while I read it, although there usually aren’t that many pictures.

  13. Magazines were stacked in the corner of the room. There was so little sunlight inside that room. Everything was dusty except for that stack.

“I am assuming you haven’t cleaned your room except for your magazines you obsess over,” Mom said.
“WHAT?!? But I cleaned it already!” the girl said.

(Probably weeks ago and forgot to clean it again because she kept reading)

  14. There is nothing I can’t wait for lesser than the release of the magazine in which my father writes his pieces. Seeing his words pinioned up among the great and the trusted is the pinnacle of the monthly. I take them with me to the treehouse, dictate my father’s articles to my stuffed animals, then later, to my human friends.

  15. Piles of tilting magazines lead around the house, a maze of old, crackling paper as one might find in some hobbyist’s house. The maze led deep into the house, farther and farther, and one might even notice that there seemed more maze than house. It was an odd place and sometimes, in the dark of night, it was hard to remember where reality was and what the truth was of this place. It was just a house with a lot of magazines, nothing more.

  16. I saw a stack of magazines by the blow dryer. I reached for the one on top, and my beautician helped me with it. I flipped it open, and you made it to centerfold. This bitch, I thought, who would ever think she’d end up this damn famous?

  17. I walked past the booth. The man, very groggy looking I might add, was selling an assortment of items; food, books, magazines. I’ve never really bought anything from him, but something caught my eye; my picture on a cover of a magazine. What was that doing there? I grabbed it quickly and flipped through it.

  18. An old art form shiny, glossy pages, super skinny super models and buff male models who probably aren’t too interested in women. Hypocritical articles, telling you to throw plates when you’re mad at your man one month and act old fashioned the next.

  19. The cover was dusty and filled with plastic girls, all covered in make up. They had painted on faces that I imagined would wash away in the slightest rain leaving them with blank empty canvases, nothings, just like everyone else.

  20. Multitudes of women discussing things with near perfect grammar about near-100% flawed issues. Yes, everyone has the same mentality about you with regard to humour, abortion and marriage. Everyone’s a completely moral citizen, aren’t they? Everyone is so perfectly perfect in their own perfect little world.

    Harry
  21. The pictures of women are intimidating to every other woman and it seems OK for the women to cry in outrage over the “perfect” breasts that have been airbrushed into oblivion. But when a man like myself runs and crunches for those abs it’s not considered at all detrimental to my mental health when all I want to do is fucking look good again.

  22. magazines are just the extended part of newspaper which come on a customized and a fancy manner. they cover every topic extensively and give us detail information about the same. magazines might come either nweekly or monthly and its fun to buy those. magazines have fancy papers and they are more attractive than normal newspapers. unlike newspapers there are cateogires in which magaziunes might dcome…newspaper everything is covered but there might be spearate magazines for crime, fashion, politics, international news etc. this makes the user to be picking up exactly what it needs and not optional like in newspapers. mgazines also hold interviews and viepoints of various experts in those fields which help the r

  25. Magazines are awesome and cool. They give me so much juicy gossip and knowledge. But the part I love the most? Cutting up the magazine stuff and doing collages and birthday cards and random zines. Not to mention ogle at all the pretty stick thin doll like things on the pages. Especially Vivi. Which reminds me, I haven’t bought the latest issue yet.

  28. When I was younger magazines fascinated me. Especially ones where you would learn all of the random “facts” about celebrities. Now as I pick one up, and idly flick through it I may speculate on an outfit, but that is all; they’re boring.

  29. Magazines have always been popular to the public. They don’t ever seem to get out of style. Many young folks like to spend their evenings reading magazines by the shore. Many ranges of styles are available for these pieces of literature.

  30. I’m procrastinating again. Instead of doing my report, I’m here reading some magazines. The magazines don’t even make sense. It’s about this new teen sensation or something, I don’t know. All I know is that it’s culture. It’s culture and I don’t want to be a part of it because it makes me sick knowing that it’s what we call “culture” these days.

  31. When i hear of magazines i usually think of espn or sportscenter ones. There are all types of magazines a lot for kids and teens and adults. If ya know what i mean .

    trevor

  34. She flipped through the stack, trying to make as little noise as possible. Nothing in there, she thought to herself, turning away.
That was when her eye caught on an old-looking newspaper in the corner. She went dead still, staring at it in shock.
    No way…… I thought….

    Daren
  36. It was the rat-ta-tat that I heard all through the night which made ditch digging not seem very worth it this morning. I was literally up through the night. It sounded like new years back home, but it was war time over here.

  40. Magazines suck because America just wants people to be obsessed with their appearance. The amount we care about celebrities is honestly appalling and I don’t understand it. You cant pay a kid to know about politics or something that matters, but they’ll be damned if they don’t know what Taylor Swift is up to.
