9 Entries for “mask”

  1. I wore a mask to protect people. I wore a mask to protect myself. I wore a mask to every public space when anyone was close to me. I wore a mask because I was kind. I wore a mask because I was considerate. I wore a mask because I wasn’t an assholish toddler stamping their feet and claiming, “Freedom!” without considering the consequences of their actions. I wore a mask because it symbolized actual charity and compassion, which the “Christians” apparently couldn’t actually figure out. So, yeah. Suck it, plague denier.

    Belinda Roddie
  2. Sometimes I really hate masks. I feel like I can’t breathe as well when I am wearing a mask, and I also can’t see people’s faces. I also can’t hear them as well when they are speaking to me. Sometimes I don’t even know who is speaking!! I appreciate masks, though, for the ways they keep us safe.

  3. Masks are the new normal. They protect us, but they keep us apart. No smiles– it’s hard to read facial expressions. But hey, you don’t have to worry about your bad breath anymore. So there’s that.

  4. The boy was alone in the middle of the ballroom floor, swaying his hips softly. A black lace mask covering the upper part of his face. His well-tailored suit fit his size as the music played. His hands at his sides. Another boy walks up to him, his mask also lace but white. They take each other’s hands and begin to dance.

  7. Mask. A word that has a completely different meaning in 2021. Normally only used for a party or referring to someone hiding something mask has completely changed in definition. Masks have become life-saving, life-changing, and weirdly political for no reason. Masks now literally sit on our faces every day while we continue our emotional ones.

  8. Mask has become the most important accessory for humankind right now. It is saving lives from the deadly coronavirus. But people have a controversial opinion on that too and some people don’t want to wear it they might have their reasons, but I think everyone should wear it.

  9. I am a natural spy.
    The mask slipped once.
You, see, everyone falters from time to time.
But the ruse is making it seem like everything’s fine..
    …when it’s not.
The secrecy is encoded in a look, not a stare.
Yet the rub comes when you most need to share
If I linger too long, I give myself away
And maybe I’ve been worn down by years
Because I’m starting not to care
