  1. How much I wish to have a little kitten. Or a cat that sits down next to me while I’m sleeping. I once had one and it was nice to haw something so warm and plushy sleep next to your face. When I’m grown up, I’ll get a cat, probably from an animal shelter.

  2. A cat walked across the stage, mewing pitiably. It scratched at the closed curtain with its small paws and mewed once again. Arthur opened the curtains when he heard the strange noise. He gazed down at the poor creature staring up at him with irresistibly cute eyes.

  3. Being a cat wasn’t all that bad. Sure, it made switching the channel on the tv a little complicated, but chasing mice was fun and cats didn’t have homework or rooms to clean. She was pretty sure she could get used to her new life.

  4. I am lost within my own head. There are various noises all around and I can’t seem to find my way out. A bell, a cat, a piano chord’s melancholy chime. I’m lost, and I can’t figure out why. Where did I go?

  5. “Meow,” I hear. I look up and it’s Daryll. Let me tell you something about Daryll. He’s kind of.. well… a 40 year old man that lives with my mother. Which isn’t that weird, except, he really likes cats. And birds. Like, A LOT.

  6. “Meow, meow, meow, mix” she sang. “That’s not how the song goes, love. It’s just meow over and over, no mix at the end.” “I swear that’s how the jingle went” she proclaimed.

  7. The cat , the rat, the shrew vole and weasel shimmered in the woodland moonlight , frozen into statuesque tableau as the screech owl glided over them, hunting.

  9. Stretching like her cat did often, she paused in mid-yawn and sniffed. Fresh brewed coffee drifted under her nose. She smiled. Yes! He was still here. “Did I just hear you purr?” he whispered, stealing under the covers to snuggle behind her. “Meow,” she cooed.

  10. “Meow.”

Bob looked up. A pair of eyes, large and luminous and green, stared back, the innocence evident in its eyes.

He smiled, and beckoned to the little thing that he had rescued just days earlier, though not entirely certain the ball of fluff would leap from so high a place.

    But it did.

And he caught the kitten in his arms, cradling it like a newborn baby, like a beautiful child who has just seen the light of the world.
