  4. We took the metro to New York City, excited for our trip and the adventures ahead. We didn’t know what we’d do and how the day would go but it didn’t matter. We knew we’d have fun. The memories we made are everlasting and the moments together I’ll cherish forever.

  5. When I got on the metro train alone, it felt surreal. It felt crazy that I was doing this, and doing it alone–but I had to get to New York. I had to see him. There were other people I hoped to meet, but he was the one I wanted to meet in person the most. How many times had he spared a little time to say hello, answered a question, shared a music link. How often on my worst nights had he opened up a silver of light for me making my loneliness a little less lonely and morning possibly within my reach. The train ride was hours, but it passed quickly. In my mind I rehearsed every word I wanted to utter, every sentence I had composed to express to him how he had changed and saved my life. But my heart knew that as soon as I set eyes on him in person, every syllable of speech would vanish in thin air as soon as he smiled at me.

  6. the metro station was rapidly screeching its way towards our destination. This was the start of my journey. My new life is here, in the bright lights of New York City.

  7. I step onto the metro as he stands on the concrete walkway. The big window separates our hands, and our fingers smudge the glass. The train shakes, and I know I’ll be meters away in a second. I hold onto a nearby pole as his figure shrinks behind me. I try to hold it together.

But then it all falls down.

  8. Riding the metro was surprisingly easier than I thought it might be. Follow the map. Choose the right color. Pay attention and exit at the right stop. We figured out how to ride around Washington D.C. even though our hometown was laid out on a grid with six streets.

  10. I was at the metro, and I saw him. My heart stopped. It was him. He had come back for me. But why? That’s what I wanted to know so badly. Did he still love me? Or was I just a game for him? I don’t think I really want to find out.

  16. In the city where pace is quick my heart beats minutes to the drum of humanity slaving itself for the Lords in their high rises, breathing the oxygenated air of high pompous royalty, stepping into the grit of the masses only short enough for the depressing hot dog on 4th avenue.

From all these little things that swallow a person, you can just run away, let alone it be for 5 minutes or 5 hours. It sets you and every inch of you free.

  23. The metro is a train that people use as a means of transportation. Although it is not of the best hygiene it is a simple way to get around. I personally don’t use the metro just because there isn’t one in my city. Howerver, if there were one I would.

  30. At the metro station, I found myself chewing gum from a vending machine, reading a newspaper I had found on the bench that was two weeks ago, and marveling at how blue the hair of the teenage girl nestled beside me really was. Mind you, as much as she seemed to prefer not to give me any personal space, she wasn’t hard to look at – save for the ocean-salty hairdo, she had nice eyes and a nice chin. She was also reading one of my favorite novels.
