What you’d really like is to lie down on your couch with a room full of dull hazy neon lights while john Mayer’s Neon plays in the background.

Reflected in the sheen of puddles and pavement, you see the wants and desires of the entire human race. You know the symbols and colors, what a style means to convey. None of it is what your searching for, so you pull the collar of your jacket a little bit higher and try to remember exactly why it was you had to run away.

  11. i just read a comment on instagram about a neon party that this kid went to. I have never actually talked to this kid I just know his brother from school. The party didn’t look that cool but there were indeed a lot of neon things.

At best he would find out sometime he did not wish to know and at worse he would discover that the fortune teller was a fraud.

  29. the lights are flashing. they’re repetitive. and so bright. who gave them the right to be so bright, so happy-looking, when nothing else feels that way? it’s not even that I’m angry at the lights. I’m just angry at EVERYTHING. i can’t help it anymore.

The room was dark, but I could still see the neon lights graze his teeth; his maniacal laughter filled the room, and I couldn’t help but think that the high pitched echoes must have slipped underneath the doors; surely someone must have heard them. Hours passed, and neon blurs faded to cosmic colors on the wall. I fell asleep with images of glowing teeth on my eyelids.

  35. Neon lights chased each other in circles, on trapezoidal signs sticking up like sore thumbs into the sky. Electricity pumped through the city’s arteries, the restaurants, movie theaters, casinos, motels. Imagine what happens when the arteries clog: would there be a brilliant buildup on one sign, while the rest went dark? Light up so brilliantly, until it explodes like fireworks?
