  2. Its what motivates us to do what we have to, what makes us who we are. Its what makes rything in life seem so much brighter and wonderful. Sometimes it seems li you can run out of it but in truth its always there just hidden inside of you. It makes you see things brigher and fun even when life might not be so amazing, he cup half full.

  4. Optimism wasn’t my best trait. It wasn’t actually a trait of mine at all. Whenever something went wrong, black clouds lingered over for as long as the reminder of that one wrong thing lived in my memory. Whenever something went right, it was just pure luck and it was bound to be ruined by the black clouds, because it was destiny that always played against me.

  5. I think you should be optimistic about everything. About your present and your future. Positive emotions always over come negative emotions. Optimism is one of the few things you can promise your self.

    Amanda
  6. To be optimistic means to see not a glass half-way empty, but a glass half-way full. It is easier to live with this kind of attitude. Instead of picking and choosing to see negative things, it’s better to find something positive about anything in your life.

  7. optimism only reminds me of the sick state this country is in. children are told they can be whatever they might apply them self to be because they are god’s gift to the world. teenage girls are told they can take advantage of any man by accusation of rape. optimism is a crutch for those who can’t expect the worst and be surprised by the best. cynicism lets people feel naturally about what happens to them: the worst.

  8. Optimism is usually thought of as an inherent characteristic in people. But I believe that optimism can be socially cultivated. Thus, optimism can be increased and make someone’s life better.Yes.

  9. I used to be so optimistic. A beaming smile that brightened everyone’s day. But the clouds of adulthood have hidden that glow behind a veil of shadow and truth… life isn’t all sunshine and daisies.
But she… she makes everything worthwhile. A reason for me to smile every now and then, even if I don’t mean it.

  10. wake up in the morning to realize today is a new day. Whatever happened yesterday no longer matters. Eat, pray and love. The birds are singing and the leaves are rustling. Optimism lives in the air, in a call i receive from my special one.

  11. as i read the word optimism, the idea of narcissism kicks in and boots the cheery idea of a happy go lucky world where everything is right the fuck out of my head. optimism is a concept that sets everyone up to fail. those who are optimistic expect something out of everyone and not to give anything, for that wouldn’t be as good.

  12. Whenever someone shows nothing but negativity, no one likes them. It’s almost as though they alienate everyone around them. Optimism is exactly like me. I am always happy, I smile, and I know that everyone will smile back. You should never let negativity rule your world, instead use optimism to make everything great.

  13. Optimism is very rare but we should all be optimistic… it is very hard when the word is such a pessimisstic place…

    RMG

  17. It was a bright day. Sunnier than it had been in months, too. She had no reason not to enjoy and seize the day. She had the whole world at her fingertips, it seemed. But no, she spent the day inside, wallowing and dry heaving with anxiety. He had left her and from that moment, it seemed like all the optimism in her world had just been sucked out.

  18. I want to keep hoping, because to lose hope is to admit that I don’t know where I’m going with my life. I want to keep hope, because if I keep my chin up, I can ignore the fact that I’m walking through life without knowing what I’m putting my feet in. If I keep hoping, I can ignore the fact, maybe, that at heart I’m really just a pessimist, and thinking of everything that can go wrong. Optimism is nice, see, because sometimes, I get all excited and decide that maybe there’s really something possible that I didn’t see before. It’s a bit of light just for me.

  19. TO believe in yourself , TO believe in what u believe, To have faith in ur thoughts & acts..and a charm to make ur words into action is what optimism is.

If I numb it enough, she says, it won’t hurt. You can smile then.

  21. I don’t really have anything to say about optimist. I don’t like it and I don’t think it should even exist because all it does it get people that don’t matter psyched about things that don’t matter and everyone ends up being disappointed. Optimism is probably the most annoying thing on earth. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.

    Mariah
  22. I am not very optimistic. I usually think that everything around me will eventually fall apart or go wrong. I have little hope for humanity. That includes my friend and family (neither of which are particularly intelligent). I say the word “hate” all the time. I don’t really mean it. I

  23. either way you look at it, the glass is half full. half water, half air. there’s no reason to ever give up on life.

  24. I think that a positive outlook on life is absolutely necessary for happiness. Someone once said that if you shoot for the moon and miss, at least you’ll land on a star. I think that if you set the bar high and miss, you’ll end up getting something better than if you set the bar low in the first place, ya dig? For example, if you’re pessimistic, you stand in the bar and say, “that guy who’s a ten will never talk to me. I’ll talk to this four.” Then you get stories about weird pizza deliveries all night. Instead, be optimistic and go talk to the ten! At least you tried! The worst that can happen is that you get to look at him up close for a few seconds before a rejection, and then you can sit around and listen to four’s stories. Or maybe, just maybe, he may actually talk to you. Maybe, you’ll have a connection. And THAT is the value of optimism.

  25. Well I have always said the glass is half full, even if he doesn’t agree with me. I don’t know if he does or not but I’m sticking to that opinion, because I honestly believe everything in life will work out eventually. Could I date a pessimist–again? I don’t think I can handle it. The negativity, looking on the darker side of things. For me, that attitude is almost impossible to be around for very long. I’m an optimist.

    Kayleigh
  26. Optimism.

What a peculiar, little word. Aye, how it comes and goes, that is. When the world shines rays of bliss, o’ how we’re all optimists. But, in the pale shadows of a “clearless”, moonless night sky, it’s laughable. Ironic, isn’t it? Pessimism clearly sides with the encompassing skies.

  27. Everyone needs lots of optimism at this time of year, for it is the greatest time of year. Cheery, festive, fun, warm, joyful holidays :)

  28. Mary Sue couldn’t kid herself any longer. Her false optimism was wearing out and so was her marriage. She sighed as she looked over yet another memo on yet another business deal. Was this really what was consuming all her time? Had she really allowed her work to completely rule her life. She thought about her daughters for a moment–Angela and Lilith. Did they think of her as much of a mother at all?

  32. Optimism. The outlook on life that was drilled out of you at Hattings. There was to be no optimism, no idealism, no hopefulness, no big dreams at Hattings. Only ‘realism’. Realism. He scoffed. It wasn’t realism, it wasn’t even pessimism, it was resigning yourself into the thinking that your whole life up until was silly, full of mindless musings, and that when you finished at Hattings there would be no opportunities for you, no happiness – just dreary, old life.

Someone to love me, someone to listen to my jokes, to by a sympathetic ear when I rambled or to have little secret pet names and conversations with. Someone who could just be my friend. That’s what I thought I would be getting. That’s what I thought…
