  1. Spring. That’s what I think. I see little girls in cute little dresses being waited on by little boys with handfuls of tulips. Pastels are just shy colors.

  2. a soft, gentle color that speaks volumes. Like that of a soft hue only seen in ever lengthening sunsets, it is beautiful. I fill myself with it and it fills itself with me. Why have i never seen this before. Felt it before. Understood it before this point.

  3. A pastel is a color. Like pink or like blue. When I think of pastel, I think of Easter because lots of Easter colors are pastel. Pastel colors are pretty. My favorite pastel color is probably light purple. It reminds me of the light purple dress Chloe has when she was little. Very pretty little dress!

  8. Pastel hues were painted across the walls of the decrepit house, colors peeling from the whitewashed, moldy walls. A bird perched on the windowsill, plaster chipping off. Grabbing a piece, it flew away to its nest on the roof, laden with treasures.

  13. I leaned against the window, with my fingers in my hair, watching the sunlight cast my silhouette along the floor. I stared, transfixed on her as she painted with pastels and strikingly bright colours. Her hands gliding with ease across the canvas, I could only stare as I watched a masterpiece unfold before my eyes. Her utter focus was mesmerizing, with her lips pursed, her eyes narrowed, her brow furrowed, and paint streaked through her hair she was even more beautiful than her art.

  14. When I was younger, pastel things always seemed so pretty: bright, happy colors. But then they began to seem cookie-cutter. Like all the plastic flower and pony stickers. They didn’t capture the depth in the world. Sometimes, things are crimson, and sometimes they are pitch black.

  15. Tip Tap. Scritch Scratch. All across the paper, colors mixing and mingling. Dust flies through the air. You hold back a sneeze. A rainbow decorates your fingertips, finding its way in clouds to settle on your slacks. Your hair is a mix between red and green. A deep breath to clean away the dust, a careful brush to smooth out the edges. A slow, accomplished smile.

    All done.

    Alexandra Bell
  16. pastel its a beautiful word, without thinking too much about its meaning. It reminds me of french country sides. with clear blue skies and cows roaming in the pastures. It reminds me of soft rains, and being with people you love. It makes me smile when I think of these things. Strange how one word can evoke such emotions…

  18. I could see your heart. It was everything you said it was. You truly did have a lot of love to give. It was me who couldn’t give you the love you deserved. However, even with that, there was no way I could stay. There were other reasons, that I never told you, why I couldn’t be with you. I regret not telling you the whole truth but I figured what I did tell you was enough. I think of you everyday and wonder what will happen if we were to ever see each other again. I miss you. So many things remind me of you. And now that spring is on it’s way, it will make it worse. The beautiful life that will bloom from the earth, blue skies, rainbows and the warm sun. This spring and summer will feel bland without you.
