  1. Time will pass, no matter what, and I am not inclined to help it in any way. I will just live and that should be enough. I don’t need any pastime to speed things up, and, as far as I am concerned, the slower the better.

    Taddy
  2. Baseball is known as america’s favorite pastime. Why? Did EVERYONE play baseball back in the day? How come the world is so obsessed with sports and shit like that. Why can’t the world be happy with just a beautiful piece of art? Can’t art be a common pastime for thousands of Americans?

I feel it linger on my wrinkled fingertips
and it’s how I pass the time, pass the time
brushing perfect strands from imperfect eyes
and setting fireflies flying from their light
loving you, that’s how I pass the time
cold, hard seaglass from a bottle that broke
and even when filled with liquor refused to shine
oh, hating me, that’s how you pass the time
[watching me, watching you, that’s our pastime]

  8. Against the wall, again and again. And every so often I would use my small feet in worn shoes to pop the ball up so it would come to fall gently on my waiting thigh. I would then guide it up to my head, and back down finally to my feet – to the wall again, awaiting the days on the field.

    Jeff Fossett

    myself
    and my mind

    againandagainandagain

    tracing kisses down
    the curve of your waist
    there’s no where else
I can be happy on my knees

  11. i can never spell this word correctly, and even when i do, it never LOOKS correct. correctness is a failing, i think, the drive for being always correct, of having to KNOW every time, what is alright, and what isn’t, as if some cosmic force is telling us the acceptable response. it simply isn’t so. correct, incorrect, right and wrong, are constructs, and i think it’s time i learned to fight my way out from under the pressing burden of having to live up to them.

  12. Pastime. it makes me think of baseball, you know, america’s favorite pastime. this makes me think of my old boyfriend, s who’s the type of guy to jokingly use the word pastime in a sentence. and even though he always made me laugh, it annoys me that he takes up so much of my memory. there’s two things there. the first is, the hurt that will always be, has always been, because he doesn’t remember me. and then there’s the second. that j, the person i love unquestionabley and miraculously, really, that he has the same. that’s my fear, someone living in his memory, making him laugh with out of place words, someone who’s not me. and now, all of a sudden, when i look up at the page, sixty seconds feels quite long. now im stuck, because it feels liek a betrayal, admitting what i just admitted. and i have to remind myself that the reason i think about scott is not becuase i miss him ,its because i couldnt get his attention adn i never understood why. and that doesn’t really make feel any better. how do you kow when 60 seconds is over, or do you just keep talking?

  22. pastime? What do I do as an American pastime? Well not Baseball. I hope that doesn’t make me “unamerican” technically because I’m asian but my citizenship has been acquired since i was born in the states. Most people freak when I tell them I don’t like baseball. They say it’s almost unamerican but come on! I love hotdogs and Apple pie. Does that make up for any thing? =D I hope so!

  32. My new pastime is looking for a job. Or applying for a job. Or wondering why I didn’t get the job. And worrying that I may never have a good job again. But, you know who does have a job? All the ass hole politicians who sent our jobs over seas. And we are so stupid that we go buy the products that they ship over here to sell to us. Only they took the game too far and now so many of us do not have jobs and can’t buy the crap they are selling. So that is the only bright spot I can see in any of this.

If we had any guts at all we would do a nation wide boycott and not buy anything at all for one month. And let them see who truly has the power. Plus my TV doesn’t work with the new converter box so I can’t see the ads they run for the products that I can’t buy anyway.

  36. My favorite pastime is… I don’t know. I enjoy so many things in life, it would be difficult to pick just one as a favorite. I think that’s the interesting thing – when you pigeonhole yourself to only one thing, be it a food, or a person, or a pastime, you become disenchanted with that thing. Life requires variety.
