  1. I watched her grow from the tiny little rock
To the amazing planet she is today
From the hair that would dangle like an immature teen
To the flat irons of wasted time and debris
She had been mine; now my little rock no more
Now she was the planet and belonged to all of you

  2. plane the earth is a planet and i live on the planet when i see the word planet i think of space as in outer space and many planets are in outer space but when i think of the word planet i see a picture of earth, it is so round, so blue, a bit hazy and kind of beautiful, even from afar. it’s amazing that we all stay upright and that everything works even though it is so round, i wonder what is in the center core of this huge round ball and i wonder where we really came from

  3. the planet was dark, and the sky was lit overhead with stars as numerous as the sand on the beach under his feet. He walked towards the lighthouse solomnly as he thought about the events of the past few hours, and what was to come.
Something sinister was brewing in the darkness, and he was the last to stand opposing it wreaking havoc on the world.

People would kill themselves to avoid being sucked into her orbit. She knew this. Took pride in it. Wore herself, just like herself and laughed about it.

    Brandi Wells
  16. This strange plant that I look down on. This little bauble of life lost adrift in a dark and forbidding cosmos. How come there could dare to be life here? How bold they must be, what titans walk here that have carved out a civilisation on this little rock…

    Jack
  17. There’s a new preview for a movie coming out, where the planet ends because the Mayan Calendar stopped. It’s by the same guy who did The Day After Tomorrow… this guy must have a hard-on for the apocalypse. I hope somebody can outrun God’s wrath like they outrun the cold in his other movie.

  24. I can’t imagine what it must have felt like to have been Pluto. To be told, after all those years of thinking you’re one thing, that you no longer fit into that category. I’d hate to have to recreate the image of myself someone else made for me. I can’t even imagine.

    Kim
  25. Our tiny planet is nothing compared to the vast universe. An ant? Not even. A nano-sized electron? I doubt that’s even an appropriate comparison. What are we humans, to think we’re all superior and mighty over all living things? What can I, as a puny runt of a human, do to make a difference?

    Annie
  26. There is so much cool stuff to write about with this, but I have to admit that I’m too ignorant to get too scientific. Dammit.

  27. Stargazing still wasn’t his thing. Even being a pilot hadn’t made Reilly a big fan of the stars.

But coming home to Earth — yeah, he could totally rock that. Seeing clouds splayed out over sapphire-blue oceans, caramel-colored deserts… his home planet suddenly seemed lonely, and he loved coming back to it.

    nathan

When I was a kid, I read Edgar Rice Burroughs about Venus and Mars, both of them entirely imaginary planets populated by partially clothed, noble white warrior races visited by the Caucasian elite of Burroughs’s imagination. Even now, I write about life on other planets, because it allows you to rewrite the worlds.

All this time, there were civilisations and culture and a history being formed on my fingernail and I could have killed it all of at any point in time. But there it was, my very own planet on the end of my fingernail.

    Morenike Adebayo
