  1. He stood up and casually brushed the sawdust off his torn, faded jeans. With every movement he made, powder cascaded from every surface in the room: every tabletop, every plywood board scattered across the floor of the Shop, even the boards on the ceiling. Though I sneezed and had to frantically wave the dust away from my face, he didn’t seem to notice it at all.

  2. powder is really white and fluffy…I remember when I was younger making a mess of it. It’s really messy. When it falls out and gets all over the place (which undoubtedly happens every time) I’m really quite distraught.

I wonder if I’ll ever mix it up with flour. Wouldn’t that just totally suck?

  6. Powder huh? Interesting. Powder just makes me think of dust, or milk powder. That shit’s pretty disgusting, huh? I once drank milk and orange juice together, the acidity of the orange juice curdled the milk in my stomach, that was pretty disgusting too. Only a little bit of time left. Powder also makes me think of powdery snow…

powder your face like you powder your language
    fix it up
    make it pretty
for the boy you want to be with
for the boy who tells you
    what to say
    what to not say
    how to look

    instead
streak your lips with that red, hot shade

  38. She powdered her nose in the mirror, looking dimly at the face she had stopped liking so many years ago. The powder was her cover; the mask she allowed the outside world to see instead of the face that had covered so many places, crossed so many lines, and had hurt so many people. For something so simple to so many other people, it was her way of letting go of everything and forgetting. Maybe it wasn’t the best way, but it was her only way.
