When George Bush’s presidency was over it felt as if a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders; it was such a joyous event. Change had indeed come to the country and it felt like a fresh new beginning – something we all needed very much.

  18. Not a very grace-filled position…pretty much hit or miss. I find it strange that so many aspire to be so burdened down by the cares and concerns of millions of people… trying to please a million opinions and trying to do that in a million different ways while at the same time trying to line up what you do with what you said and making sure those people you represent don’t resent that you represent them. A presidency is a touch gig.

they say he’s the first black president.
but he’s half white too right?

    and blue
    and colors
    assigned to our skin
    when we’re really just
    people all the same.

  30. the president marched down the hallway like his predecessors before him. he thought of those who had tried to imitate and those who he feared he would follow in his footsteps. 31. Marilyn’s dream was to sing to the President. She wiggled and squirmed and flirted her way into that very dream, finding herself in a dress so tight she had to be sewn into it, standing in front of the mic, shading her eyes in order to see exactly where he sat in the crowd.

It was just as she’d seen it over and over in her mind… with the exception she was a 58 year old woman who had given birth (and not recovered from) 4 children and he was the head of her bowling league.

Still, a dream is a dream, and she enjoyed hers to the last note.

  40. The president of our country, The United States of America is Obama. It was a rather exciting race and he’s done a rather good job so far. The amount of people, however, who perceive him negatively is annoying because they only watch Fox news and other, right wing sources instead of doing their own research.
