  2. The proud and the witty share much in common. Desperation and the wicked are the lot of their troubles, sending waves of raft enthusiasm down their corrugated spines.
Twenty years after, we have become the worst of the worlds. The proud have one.

  3. Proud. That’s what my dad said he felt of me when I got the maximum number of A’s in an important government exam. It’s what I struggle to make him feel. Pride hurts children.

  5. still proud? when does this word change? proud doesn’t last, not eternally. pride, I mean. pride is all too brief, barely lasting past the moment of accomplishment that inspired it. at least for most of us. some of us don’t even need the accomplishment to be proud. but for most, pride skitters away into the night as soon as the first blush of success passes and I set my sites on the next obstacle.

  7. proud is the way you feel after accomplishing something ridiculously awesome and amazing, preferably all by yourself. If you are proud of something, you value it and therefore you are actually able to build upon it within the context of your own life experience as well as the life experience of other people. 12. proud to be the son of scurrilous dog. Right. Ever more proud to be the special agent for the queen. As each in it’s own way disguises the underlying secret of the faces of man. I never did want to be a spy, just like my wish was never to be a punching bag for the man I looked up to. It has made me hollow in side like a old shed whose foundations and shoring have given. The covert is my skeleton with out it I would surely collapse upon myself..

  13. It tugs, it pulls on every cell. The gravity, the weight of this can’t escape the scale. I will be judged. So much for pride. Like an undertow, like a pit of quicksand. It drags me down, down into the dark, down into the depths. It’s all around, it envelops me, surrounded by sound, the cacophony.

    Ron

  26. I think people have a sense of pride which is completely misplaced. This pride can then take them to places which they otherwise could not have possibly reached. Perhaps these places and achivements will then actually then make them worthy of this above mentioned pride. Is it a self fulfilling prophecy?

  27. I am proud of what I’ve become. I’m lucky in my opportunities. I am very happy for all of my friends – you can call it pride. They are doing their thing and I’m doing mine. We’re hundreds of miles away and I still feel that I must congratulate them on everything they do or are doing.

I miss them but I have to do my thing just as they have to do theirs – so they can be proud of their lives.

  31. some people are just too damn proud defending personalities that have no real foundation except in the world of self image, delusion and contracting around a misguided sense of self. i am personally working to get past any sense of pride or self and becoming more whole and less alienated from others as days go by. this isn’t happening fast enough for my taste. every minute i spend in wall gazing practice is a minute that i work through the stories and plot lines and grievances and anger and stupidity that are a normal part of defending the fictions of pride and self image. meanwhile, i can’t be too hard on other people who merely express what they have taught themselves about themselves, and don’t have the advantage of practice to get through illusions and dukka that torment everyone.

    Fenimore Mesmer

Even simple stories of love and fun for them to share with fond memories of me, and to feel a strong connection to a member of their family. I am proud of my morals and ethics and hope that they will be too!
