  1. what i heard on that recorder was the reason to get rid of him. A reason to call it quits, hang the bastard. What i heard was him calling me fat, the truth.

  2. recorder. i just bought a recorder the other day. it’s great. it’s an mp3 player. i plan to have a diary recorder. i mean who records their diary on a recorder these days. but i think it will be good. because saying things out loud is different from just writing. even though i think writing might be faster. but because speaking it is slower, and requires the train of thought to filter through the body, something different might come out of the process.

  3. I couldn’t believe that they had recorded me saying that stuff. I mean seriously! That was a private conversation that no one else had any business listening to and they just blurted it out through the frickin’ loudspeaker for christ’s sake.

  4. i was home alone. just me , my dog, and my parents voice playing over and over again on a recorder saying they love me but did they really. if they did would they have left me here alone ? this i cry about at night, this is what tore me apart when i was so young.

  5. The recorder played out its haunting melody. As I listened, it took me back to the shores of the Yangtzee river, where I had visited so long ago. the mournful sounds told of a lost love, someone the musician had been searching for for many years. His eyes met mine, he thanked me for sharing in his tale.

  6. I smooth my fingers over the cold plastic. Who thought a voice recorder would make me feel so sad? I turn it over and wonder if it will still hold his scent. The plastic is smudged with his fingerprints, and I take comfort from that tiny, remaining bit of him.

  7. ah hilarious images are brought back from my days in front of the judges in high school. Te Speech judges. Of course I did not have a speech disorder (perhaps a typing disorder)because I’m not talking about the kind of speech that you hate. Where you have to improve on your speaking skills. i mean the competitive Speech. Its literally a talking competition. Memorize a story and tell it in your own way i n front of a judge (with as many funny voices as you can use)and he looks up at you and then pretends to scribble something on his score sheet so you won’t feel pressured

  11. it is not i who am writing to you but my ghost writer. i am only dictating to his hand–his left hand–what it must write for his right is in the thrall of his mind and is unable to write with any impartiality. ladies and gentlemen, a smile has just lighted upon the author’s lips.

  14. I recorded a message to my missionary the other day. The tape recorder captured my voice and my words to be able to send to him. It’s nice that we can use this device to communicate. Reading letters and emails is one thing, but hearing his voice is something completely different. I love the recorder.

  21. When the Dark Days came across Nara, she was one of those who kept the people content. For half the year the lights above the underground city would shut down, and Nara would be in darkness. She was a recorder, who listened to books and memorized them- she was able to read them to the people of Nara when they needed a way to pass the time.

  22. I saw this word at the top of the page and I thought to myself, “How would I use recorder in a sentence, or even a short story.” I thought a murder mystery might be good — think Sixth Sense, except instead of a psychological thriller about ghosts, it’s a series of clues left on recorders.

The detective finds tapes that lead him to the murderer.

  23. I used to have a recorder that I got from my intern program. we were supposed to use it to record teachers teaching and then transcribe the speaking. It took a long time. I don’t remember if it helped that much. Then later I gave the recorder to my daughter becaused she asked me for one. I think she wanted it to spy on people and record them talking. She loves to spy on people.

  28. to record a moment is to save a precious memory onto a piece of equipment. it wont fade as drastically and it will always keep until technology moves on. to record is to capture a moment. its impact wont be as great but it will be there. recording will save time, space, memories. old and new. all. of. them.

Now my 8-year-old son has done the same. A couple of months ago I went to his recorder recital. What a treat that brought back lots of memories.
