I moved here from sunny Florida years ago and that ugly pink and brown knit scarf kept me warm that first snow. It was beautiful for three weeks and then I was ready for it to leave. Thankfully, I’ve gotten used to seasons at this point and my scarf collection rivals that of my underwear.

  10. One word is all it takes to get your message across. If you say or write just one word, you will make yourself heard. You can say one word instead of 100. Don’t try to scream 50 words when all it takes is one word. Remember that less is more, etc. Try to remember that everyone looks up to someone who can say in one word when it takes others thousands of words to say the same thing. Children only need one word. Don’t confuse them with a mouthful of garbage. Be considerate, and don’t clutter up the space you’re in with too many words. Just one word is enough. Think before you speak.

A bellydancing veil which she twirled around to the beat of music that felt lovely and freeing to me, and also to her, a sixth grader performing in front of the whole school for a talent show. She didn’t hide behind it – she shined with it.
