In some countries women who wear the Moslem scarf face serious discrimination. I think a person should be free to choose what she will wear. Freedom of dress is important and should not be messed with.

sometimes I scarfd up pizza with abandon; other times I wear a scarf to keep me warm. Then I look at the word and wonder where scarf originated and does it have meanings that I am not aware of. Can scarf be used as an adjective irt adverb?

A scarf is usually worn around the neck to protect it from the weather, be it cold or hot or windy or whatever. Some scarves are plain and others are patterned or colored or decorated in some way. Scarves can also be worn on the head to cover the hair or lack thereof. I have a collection of scarves but rarely, if ever, wear one.

I used to wear a scarf in the winter, but it gets in the way. I have knitted lots of scarves as gifts. They are easy to make and work up very quickly. Some people would spend a fortune on a scarf, not me. I’ll make one for cheap! I have a sister who makes scarves, too. She gives them away, as do I. There are plenty of patterns to choose from. I find a lot of free scarf patterns on line.

When it’s as cold as it can be here in upstate NY, I like to wear a scarf to protect my neck. It’s not always convenient, but when it’s 15 Below zero, it really helps. A lot of men don’t like to wear them, but I do.

The day was barely cold, but she wrapped the scarf around her anyway – it wasn’t for fashion, it wasn’t for warmth, it was for that occasional wafting scent of apples and car grease that reminded her still of him, always him.

We used to hang our girlfriend’s brightly colored nylon scarf from the rear-view mirror in our cars. The scarves were a single color. Hopefully it did not conflict with the colior scheme of our car’s interior. Girls were always honored to have their scarf tied around the mirror post there. The scarf would hang from the knot around the post and blow in the breeze at times. Noone was concerned about obstructed driving views at the time.
