wandering through pittsburgh at 5 am, watching his scarf trail in the snow as it piled on the streets and sidewalks. he never noticed, he just kept talking and shouting in the below zero air, waving his hands like he always did, yelling at us to hurry up, keep up, soon we’d find something interesting, or maybe just some warm place to get inside.

a neck piece and something to go on the head too

aunt betty in her tan buick convertible, blowing in the wind. Flowers. I wore a thin, red scarf for grade school. i miss it.

That piece of cloth you put around your neck to keep in warm when the cold winds start to blow. Maybe it’s a plaid one, wool, with a fringe on it that blows out behind you and makes you look racey. I don’t know what else to write about a scarf……hmm. People use to put smelly stuff on it and wrap it around your neck when you had a sore throat. Bet it was stinky stuff.

When I was 8 or ten years old, silk scarves to be worn around the neck were very popular with the teenagers (It was in the 50’s). I so envied my sister because she had every color I could imagine (at least it seemed so at 8!) So when she would go out on dates, etc. I would go in her room and try on all of her scarves. I just remember how soft they were—and BEAUTIFUL colors!
Jo
Warm in the winter and keeps flies off the neck during flyseason. Good for knittrs to keep busy.

A long flowing scarf fluttered behind her as she drove through the small mountain passage. How “movie-like” she thought, but she had always wanted that experience. Sometimes you just have to act out those scenes in “real” life.
It’s good, it’s not the same.
Lynda
She wore a fluttering layer of silkiness, like flowing layers of chocolate that billowed behind her in the crisp sea breeze. You wondered if she smelled like chocolate – some wild combination of dark cacao beans and salt…
Heather
red flowing scarf. Beautiful women with long flowing scarf wrapped around her neck. Very fashionable, beautiful and stylish. Nitted scarf. Old woman sitting in rocking chair knitting with old stale yarn. gives the scarf as a gift

I love knitting scarves as quickly as I can and then giving them as a present. I feel like they are a personal gift that can be really nice to receive as long as I don’t make them too short.
A couple years ago I made ascots for a few people but they didn’t realize it and used them as regular scarves and I felt silly telling them at that point.
I wonder if I’ll end up giving scarves as a present again?

When I leave for vacation next week I’m going to scarf a bunch of food. I’m going to scarf a bunch of ground walking many beautiful trails. The best part is that I’m going to be with my family and away from work. Bring it on!
Anna
She drew the long red scarf more tightly around her neck as she braced herself against the wind. Wisps of blond hair fluttered around her face, partially obscuring her view, resulting in utter surprise when a man spoke her name.

The scarf was left on the chair almost as if planted by the suspect. Perhaps she wanted to be caught. The detective thought this was too obvious and saw the scarf as a possible ploy by the read suspect to divert attention from himself.
Almost as if by accident, the detective noticed the fingerprint on the faucet in the bathroom.

My father gave me a scarf that he purchased for me in Singapore. It is made of beautiful silk. It hangs in my closet. I think of him whenever I see it. I just cannot wear it since my father died.

this is something you wear, like a piece of clothing. many people wear it on their neck or head. i think it is worn more often in winter or when the weather is cold. around Christmas time you might see a lot of scarves. even snowmen wear scarves, often red or black. a scarf can help you stay warm and dry. in olden days, women liked to wear these on their heads to keep their hairdo in place on windy days. i wore one when i was a little girl! thanks

I happen to enjoy these very much despite the warm weather here at home. They are great little accesories that make regular outfits feel comfier than they actually are …over intended to be. They’re specially great for supporting a soccer team.

I see red plaid, but then again, I see red plaid everytime I think of winter and scarves and New England and cold. Then I flick into a “Fiddler on the Roof” and see the masses with their scarves put over their head. I just realize that I’ve changed the word from scarf instead of scarves, so I may have broken the rule the first time I attempted to do this challenge!
Rebecca
As a child , I always loved a scarf when I went out. It was especially valuable to keep from snow from getting down your neck during snowball fights. I had a yellow plaid one that particularly useful. My mom knitted a huge blue one that I still use for protection while skiing. And when I got to college, scarf meant to eat large amounts of food quickly.
I still use scarves and my favorite has an image of Mickey Mouse on it.
Steve Lutwin
I think of itchy wool around my neck. It’s cold and windy and my nose is running. The scarf is flying out behind me. it is red

Keeps you nice and warm, but can also be seen as a nice fashion item. Scarfs come in many colours. You can put them on snowmen to help them look more like, er, humans. And…you can knit em. Grannies usually do. Ok, I’m done.

it’s that scarf that reminds me of her.
