I just read in Rebecca West’s book on the history of Yugoslavia about a distinct group of Christian men from the hills outside of Sarajevo who regularly wore scarves, which served two purposes. The first was ceremonial, the second – and only supposed by West – was that the scarves doubled to cover their proneness to goiters.

My scarf makes me barf while I tarf and I oh lordy have no idea what to say, today. Okay? Scarves make bad juggling utensils, they flop and flip all askew. What to do?

is somehting that we use ot keep our necks warm, but it is also a valuable hammock device for large snakes and iguana. I once ate a scarf in a light chocolate sauce. It was delicious although it had a “snakey” taste to it. Perhaps it was used. I like to use them to throw stones as well.

To hide a face?
To blindfold a birthday child?
To twirl around a lover?
To fit in with a trend?
To hide a shy smile?
Be my scarf?

scarves help me enjoy the winter season to the fullest. When I put on a scarf when it’s cold out, I just feel more bundled up and have confidence. Weird, I know

A flowing silk color splash in the breeze behind a woman driving a convertible. The colors are pure and strong.

Scarf is a word that most speakers of English probably associate with a cloth around the neck, but of course it can refer also to sluffed skin, and to something associated with rocks (and no, I’m not mixing it up with scarp or escarpment). Robert Bloch wrote a lousy thriller called “The Scarf” back in the 50s–few of his thriller novels were as interesting ultimately as *Psycho*, and some, like *The Couch* were really lousy.

A chilly winter’s day, the wind gusting from the east with the bitter promise of snow trapped like a secret within it. I draw my scarf tightly about my face, feeling the warmth of my own breath, the moisture. It feels good.

The scarf blew slowly as the wind picked up. Tucked away inside the long gray jacket its color was missed by those outside of the comfy confines of the jacket. It was long, frilled on one end, tattered though still in good enough shape for outside attention. The man walked slowly against the wind, his hat lifting slightly off his head as the more powerful gusts rolled by.

the scarf around my neck is blue and silky. all day i feel caressed and any care that comes my way is filtered through the blue silk. even my voice is different, what i swallow is touched, lightly, through layers of me by the silk, always fluid, moving, blue. my scarf is water.

i love my scarf it was knitted by my ex housemates mother. it is brown but turns green in the light. my housemate john is also famous for wearing his scarf and even in summer he is famous for wearing it

warm wooly wrapped loosely around me neck. cold icy morning going to school with my wee purple knees sticking out of my uniform skirt but at least my neck is warm. A bit itchy but warm. Now that I’m older I prefer silk, the softness still gives warmth but without the itch of my childhood.

It is red and flowy. A dark haired woman is wearing it around her neck. It is a signal. And she is waiting.

Ive never had to wear one since I live in Florida. Ive only seen snow one time, in Tennessee, and it was only like 2 inches high. Im not complaining though, since im lazy and cant imagine what it would be like to shovel it all the time.

i enjoy knitting a scarf. In fact I have knit about 120 of them, but not any within the last year and a half. Knitting is very enjoyable and good exercise for arthritic fingers. Making a scarf is fun because you produce something you can wear or give to a friend or relative as a gift. In fact making scarves in a variety of colors means you produce many gifts. Sometimes girls and women will wear a scarf as a belt. That dresses up their outfit and looks sharp and up-to-date.
Carol Litten
The scarf was wrapped, beautifully, around her neck. She opened the door. “Can I help you?” He saw what he wanted, reached for it, and only seventy seconds later, she lay dead on the floor. Three days later, her rotting corpse was found by the detective. “Strangulation,” he exclaimed.

A scarf is a beautiful thing. I have many of them in all kinds of colors. Red ones, purple ones, striped ones, long ones, short ones. Haha long and short isn’t a color, that was stupid. My dog even wears a scarf, that is before she tore it into pieces. That scarf is no more anymore, wow that sounded weird. Anyways, i want to buy more scarfs for the winter. Its nice when it keeps your neck warm. It keeps me from getting a cold too.

A scarf is really odd. They can be many things. Isn’t that odd. Oddness is quite odd. Not too scarffy though. Hmm, I just had McDonald’s. No scarves there. Oh well. Well maybe somewone could’ve been wearing one…hmmm…Okay well then…

The scarf flew frighteningly high, until a second later it was strangling me, harrassing me for my opinions on high quality bakeries.

She tore it from his neck, oblivious to the torque which sent him careening into Maureen’s lap. Stuffing the frilled ends into her purse, she stepped briskly stepped over the body and walked out the door.

a little red scarf on the neck of a pretty young girl was waving in the wind that day. It was a little cute item of clothing which normally would have meant nothing, but this time it meant freedom. freedom from social responsibilities.
