  1. They always hide as shadows in the night. They are mere shapes of things and not the things themselves, but that does not make them less terrifying. Their skill in not in physically harm of humans as most creatures is. No, their skill lies with the mind. They horrify those who see them, farming shapes that will make their hearts stop, and their faces freeze in the contorted shape of a scream.

  4. She closed her eyes and the shapes on the constellations under her eyelids seemed to pulse with the music. She need to get out of here. She opened her eyes and started searching for an exit. She felt his hand come around hers and she shook it off, walking quickly towards an exit, weaving through the crowd.

  5. you say you see colors bursting behind your closed eyelids, supernovas binding your gaze to the stars and all the jupiter moons, the reds and blues and greens and yellows all rushing, swirling, into an immense glow that lights you on fire. everything’s blurring, all the shapes, you say, in a breathless voice, reaching out forward. do you see it too? you wonder out loud, and you turn to me. i want to shake you awake, but the drug’s in your veins.

    Try to grasp its form. Keep your mind’s eye on the self and your others on the horizon. Even when the sun goes down other small lights dot the sky, and people have always found stories in them.

  9. Shadows to shapes in the early morning when the sun is trying to find some space between the leaves to shine through and warm the ice that settled on your face overnight. Shapes to shadows past evening when smiles settle down to rest.

  11. Here are the shapes of valleys and mountains. And here are the curves of lakes and swamps. I create the texture with just my gaze – smooth, flat, sharp, and scarred.

    Here are the colors of sunsets and moonlight. And here are the colors of curtains and wine. Somehow, it all goes to red and black, and somehow, all of the shapes morph to circles – around and around, without any end.
