The kid watched the slideshow. It was about Spongebob. It was the episode about his vacation. According to his older sister, it was mediocre. To his older brother, it sucked, but he loved it. He thought that it was awesome.

Slideshow.
“Hit rewind please” She says softly. “Just once more” She holds her head down. The wheel turns slowly abruptly stopping before the black and white reel goes again.
The slideshow of life. She’s allowed one more glance. Picture after picture, memory after memory long gone. Good and bad. Doesn’t matter now, can’t turn back. “Was it the slideshow you’d hoped for?” He asks in a gruff voice. “One hell of a slideshow” She straightens herself out. He nods understanding.
“I’m ready now” She extends her hand to the reaper disguised as an angel as her last breath escapes her muffled by the sound of a thousand tears around her.
After getting home from our mission trip to New Orleans, my youth pastor made a slideshow of all the pictures that we took while we were there. He even added some music along with it to give it that exciting feeling when you watch it!
I remembered that one. Vegas. ’86. We’d had a little too much to drink.
That one was definitely familiar. Milwaukee. ’88. We’d had more than a little too much to drink.
But that one? I’d rather forget. Houston. ’92. I didn’t even feel like drinking that day.
I put up the presentation, my life condensed into ten simple slides. The first step, first word, first kiss and first love bullet pointed in the first slide. Only two slides had anything on. And it was time for me to fill up the others.
Eyes flicker open shut
Here comes the endocrine system
I’ve missed half the point
My thyroid leaves me wanting
growth
Eyes flicker open shut
Cannot focus
But slides keep showing up
Show up
Show up to this moment
Take up this space.
