This word immediately conjures up an image of a huge pile of rubbish or whatnot left untouched in one corner. The pile of neglect, and the pile that is unnoticed. As we keep stacking rubbish on and on.

The odds were stacked against her, but she went into the courtroom anyway. No one was going to say that about her – the lies, the outright foolishness. She’d be strong and wipe away the tears just this once.

There are some very large smoke stacks contained within the gates of an old abandoned mill near where I live. It needs to get torn down, as it is an eyesore and a hazard.

my life is a stacked deck. i plan ahead for events to try to make them all go my way. but life is a card shuffler. it messes things up, jumbles them, and makes everything new and exciting. and so i cannot know what to expect.

A stack of papers fell on the ground, scattering everywhere, almost covering her entire workspace in white space and scribbled ink. Lately her writer’s block has been getting on her nerves, and she doesn’t want to pick them up anymore.

A stack of papers. Lying on my desk, it will stay there for another week or so. I’m taking a break. Tired of this, this… this hell. I can’t stand it. A stack of papers? What am I, a slave. No, this cannot be.

A stack of hay sitting in a field. Hold, dusty, dry in the hot summer air. How far away from other stacks it sits. How lonely does it feel? Is it sad? Does it feel? Being a home to mice and other critters that reside around it. This stack is more significant than you once thought.

I could stack the pancakes over and over into a never ending stack. While I eat the pancakes I would stack blocks with my nephews. If only I had a stack of cards to play with to kill some time.

ed one upon another the daisies toppled in the lightest of wind. When we thought about their situation, we were flabbergasted by the mindlesness of their intuition. They were not only there, but doubtless intentionally so.

Stack them high, those plates. But lest they fall, climbing so tall, with us all under way. When then, what do you know. We’re the one they see. We see be seen that inkless pen, stacked on top of me. well, what do you know? a stack of plates. Be sure they don’t fall.

Put those in your mouth.

There was a stack of dishes in the sink: again. She wasn’t ready for this today. It was going to be another one of those times when she would do more than she could. God give her strength to face the chores ahead. This insurmountable pile of dishes.

As far as I can see, stacking ones problems on top of each other *is* a solution. A temporary one, perhaps, but if you stack carefully, it might just work.

The cards are stacked against you my man! You’ve been had ! cried Monsieur Claude. Holmes simply shook his head in frustration.

I surveyed the heavy-looking tower before me, the dusty volumes stacked up to the ceiling. I blew carefully on the top of it, leaning over just slightly, and an elegant billow of dust clouded up around me, showing me a small shred of a title. Slowly, I reached up and brushed away the rest of the grime to read the title.

The stack of CD’s sit in the corner. Most of them haven’ been listened to in awhile, but that’s okay. New music – it’s always a nice thing. Dust is setting on them, age. Their owner doesn’t not love them, it’s just that he has moved on to new frontiers and new genres. Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold.

My grandma gave me a stack of cards for Christmas, I think they have pictures of cacti on them or something since she is from West Texas. I have never found a needle in a hay stack before but I bet it would be really hard to find.

I opened four decks of cards, all with red backs, and began to stack them idly on the countertop. It was a beautiful summer day, and yet I felt no desire to go outside or do anything. Mindlessly, I moved my hands, stacking the cards one after another. Finally, when my magnificent house of cards was complete, a breeze rolled in the window and sent it all crashing to the ground.

She rips the pages out of the chart, and tosses them into the box labeled “deceased.” They pile up. Cats, dogs, decades. They all pass by so quickly.
Or am I the one that’s passing them by?

Elliot stacked the cups beside the sink loudly, water pouring off the plastic glasses on leaving puddles all over the Formica-wood counter top.
“I’m sorry, alright?” He stood in the doorway to the kitchen, their living room and a dim-witted pit bull somewhere behind him. She didn’t respond, merely slammed another glass onto the stack before plunging her arms back in the warm, soapy water.

The stack of books leaned slowly to the right before tipping over and sliding across the floor. I left them there. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t change anything.

I sighed as I stared at the stack of books on my desk. How on earth was I going to get through all of them? I was going to have a crazy workload this semester, but the books just kept piling up. I couldn’t seem to get away! The more I read, the more they stacked up! It was like someone was pulling a magic trick on me…
