  8. i felt started at 4:30 in the morning when my boyfriend said he was on his way over. i was living in the dorms at college and so was he, so he wasn’t far except i didn’t understand why it was so urgent. but when he looked at me and said he couldn’t do this anymore, the startled look on my face must hace jolted something inside both of us.

  10. i don’t know what made me feel like that- the same old confusion was served in a whole new way. all my teen years’ question marks put together. all in front of me, making me feel startled.

    on the other hand, startled has the word start in it. and maybe that’s what i need-letting go for a clean start.

  27. i got startled when everybody’s speaking at the same time. being in a crowded place also has the same effect on me. which is weird because i don’t like to be alone as well. maybe it’s just me, or is it the people?

  34. shocked she turned to the now open door. THe form on the other side was disheveled and dirty but she recognized him beneath the grime. He’d been lost for so long and yet here he was.   39. I jumped back. The vase shattered. Glass shards flew everywhere. The cat knocked it over. I believe that it was trying to get a mouse. Laughing, I grab a broom and start to sweet up. My, oh my. That cat gave me a startle. I feel that one day. The shock from the playfulness of the feline will kill me. I’m not sure why. But I can probably guess it will be a heart attack.
