  1. I was startled by this word what do I write about, a scary sight. I really am not sure of this, what do i do? I’m sure I’ll get a really bad grade on this to. The more I do the worst It gets I’m ready to give up on this.

  2. He sighed and I became startled by the sound of his devastatingly cold breath, breaking into thousand pieces of sorrow. This somehow reminded me of the late autumn wind, caressing my clenched eyelids. To me, his pain was slightly enticing, in a very, very soft way. Underestimating his dark side, again.

  8. like a little deer, a fawn, caught in the headlights, tripping out from between the trees where the snow lays softly on the ground and then KABAM – the headlights are there, pinning her to the spot, her little hoofs nailed to the floor, her mind a flutter with which way to run, what to do what to do, the panic sets in and the elegance runs out.

  10. This is a bit shit there is only one word a day. Although this makes it more managable for people who use this as a daily writing tool. next time round I will probably write an anecdote (whether it will be interesting is another issue altogether)

  11. What? I was startled! I have to write something in sixty seconds with just one word given to me at the top of the page. Who is not startled to be thrown in the loop like that. Write in sixty seconds about one word. Startled. Who picks these words anyways? Startling isn’t it?

  12. I was startled. Look at her. Her lips were parted with her hair, jet black hair, cascaded down her front. They curled where they should have not. She lifted her finger and twirled the curl around her finger and smiled at me with a twinkle in her eye. I knew it then. I was just so startled.

  13. I had this last time so I am a bit surprised to see it here again. Last time I tried to talk about a startling moment in bed, but I could only think about what I do when waking up, not weird shit Ive done in the bedroom which would probably be more entertaining. damn i’m slow

  18. I am randy marsh. Gerbils have taken over the world because craig is a dickface who didn’t want to save us all. He just walked away and now we’re all slaving in the cedar wood chip factories. Unless we meet our quotas we get fed to them. I forgot to put tape in my damn camera and now I’ve never been more glad.

  20. You seemed startled when I approached you. I try to seem somewhat non-intimidating but I did bump into you from behind. You glanced back at me and I returned the favor. Re-correcting my path, I kept walking and you kept standing in the exact same place. I wonder if we will ever cross paths again.

  21. is the bird startled by the fall
or the fact that no one ever told it
    that it couldn’t fly?

or is it simply the fact that its mother isn’t there to catch it
    hold it close
    whisper sweet nothings
and silently break its neck before it knows any better.

  22. ‘You startled me’ was an understatement. Maybe it was just because I was so tired and run-down (I like to think so) but she in fact scared the crap out of me. She could at least stop giggling at me…

  23. i’m startled by the lack of thought i have left
i spend days upon end fighting against myself
ignoring sarah when i’d enjoy nothing more than her company
fearing that i should become stale
that my personality and my jokes will die with the breeze and that she’ll be the one ignoring me, because she won’t enjoy my company
it’s that fear that drives me to this unhappiness, this lack of sleep, my hate and dreams and hate and more dreams and in truth
    i’m tired of it
    i’m tired of me
    i’m tired
    i’m going to bed

  28. south park just showed an episode called “the startling” that I thought basically sucked. They new ones are a little overly serious in a very not serious sort of way. They need to get back to the things that made the show funny. It doesnt relate well to current events anymore.
