  1. the stereo is not my favorite. I’d rather use my computer to listen to music. iTunes. something not so prone to skipping CDs and fuzzy tapes. and the radio isn’t so nice either. stereo reminds me of static. static things are boring. static things are still. turn off the stereo and stop being static.

  2. I used to use stereos all the time. I had a huge disney princess one. Is stereo synonymous with boombox? maybe it was a disney princess boombox-not a stereo. i’ve forgotten the true meaning because, well, stereos have been forgotten. Now we are a world of ipods and digital music. I constantly worry that all my music will be gone once my computer messes up.

  4. Sometimes life seems like it is in stereo. Sounds rush past from different directions. Bleh, how overly dramatic. We talked about stereo in theatre today.

  5. Whatever you hear it doesn’t mean anything. Mostly the importance of it all is in the sight the lines the shape the scope of it all. Both sides of the world reassign things to you, both sight and sound, alerting you to the position of things for you and for others. Blessed be he who finds what they are looking for.

  6. Rectangle shaped contraption that can blow your eardrums or soothe the soul… Stereo.

  7. i see in stereo. yesterday and today and tomorrow. all at the same time. sometimes all the same. the highest frequency and the one hardest to hear- is the future. of course it is that we must listen for the hardest. only that frequency leads us out of stagnation.

  9. This is how it always goes. We drive around and get drunk, forget about the town we hate. The town that everyone hates. The town that is just like your town, only colder/warmer. The stereo blaring because we can’t stand shitty FM radio.

  12. “Did you ever wonder,” she mused idly, as they sipped their chai, “why the word ‘stereo’ is included in the world ‘stereotype’?”

“Probably because stereos are stereotypical.” He twisted the eggshell cup in his hands, agitation showing in his shaking hands, straying inexorably towards the gun stashed in his shoulder holster.

“Oh,” she said wickedly, “but we were never ones for normalcy, were we?”

  15. My heart beats louderLouderLOUDER. This music is so loud. This city is so loud. This silence is so loud. I’m drowning. I’m turning up the stereo and thrashing. I’m turning down the gravity and crashing. I want I want I want. I’m so tired of wanting this. I’m so tired of wanting you. Wanting the wrong people. The wrong people wanting me. I want this stereo to unbreak itself and I’m waiting for the day I’m not broken.

  16. The stereo was blaring in the silent room. She stared at the offending appliance, wondering why she still hadn’t gotten up to go turn it off. It was beginning to give her a headache and she really hated the song that was playing but still she just sat by idly, letting the overly loud words wash over her. She didn’t know why she was allowing the song to continue to play when all she really wanted to do was to throw the whole thing out the window.

  17. ok so I get as one word stereo. i like my stereo actually, it plays whatever I wanna hear whenever I wanna hear it. Who am I shitting. I don’t have a stereo. I have iTunes & an ipod. I would like a stereo. But since I’m a modern child I don’t have any cd’s so who would care about a stereo. I like the idea of a stereo. Standing in your livingroom…

  18. Turn it up. Loud. Stereotypes. Thin, issues. Fat, issues. Normal, denying issues. Wealthy, greedy. Poor, lazy. Blah blah blah. I love analog.

  19. I heard the sound bites blast. In order rythem and rhyme, my stereo couldn’t lie to me. I was induced in a pleasure=induced coma of music. Unfortunately my neighbors couldn’t lie either, my sound level was far too passionate (loud) for their liking.

  20. I love stereos. The music and the sound.. The bass pounding and the flow of the music.. The beat. The sound. The music. The feeling. The love. I love music. Stereo = music, therefore it equals love. Stereo and music is my life. My stereo is me.

  24. And as a child I heard that stereo play time and time again
And with it the melodic voice of my father, always singing
When he slipped away I almost threw out the stereo, it was too much to bear
Simply turning it on and hearing the songs he used to sing

  26. i WAS SITTING THERE when all the sudden I heard it. What the heck was that noise? I thought. It sounded like an angel’s voice but the doors were shut and the windows were closed. I looked and looked but all I found was a broken stereo.

  27. Sound in both ears. Music of my childhood. Rocking out to Richard Marx while others were listening to All4One. Dancing in my room in front of a full length mirror with the only real friend I knew. Myself.

    Andrea
  28. The sound of the stereo crashing and clanging down the hard metal staircase was even more satisfying than listening to my mother scream at me for playing it too loudly. Bye bye, stereo. Perhaps my ipod will play even louder.

  32. There is a large stereo in the corner blaring music I haven’t heard in years. The place feels so familiar but I haven’t been here before. Who is this man that seems to know me so well even though we’ve never met? In a way, I feel like a coma victim just waking up, traces of amnesia filling my mind more than the hard facts I have been taught to appreciate.

  33. I have a stereo that I destroyed once. I threw it off my third floor apartment just to see how it would smash. It split open and bled its hundred shards once it hit the pavement below. No worries. Empty street. I let out a triumphant shout 35 feet above.

  36. unfortunately, the sound made the floor vibrate. vases fell from the shelves in a shower of glass. Crash, went reality.

  37. The stereo is blasting some pop radio station that I can’t stand. But it makes her happy, so I tolerate it. She screeches in the most obnoxiously cute way as what she claims is her ‘favorite song’ comes on. She starts to dance around the room and although I wouldn’t normally, when she pulls me up I dance too, wondering what kind of a spell the stereo put me under.

  38. My car stereo just broke. you would be surprised what a difference a stereo can make while riding. It sucks. We have one in our house but we dont use it much. I prefer tv :)

  40. stereo sound. Such a fine way to listen to your favorite music and relax when you feel like breaking something.
fact: my ipod phones haven’t been stereo for about 2 months. I gotta get a new one. I’m afraid I’ll damage my right ear while trying to hear something with my left ear. :P
