  1. Storm. Blew through town and left a vacancy. Empty. Voices echoed and bounced off of broken wall.

  2. I remember the rain during the storms as a child always disturbed me. Something about the atmosphere after a rain storm makes me uneasy to this day and I don’t know why.

It’s not every rain storm that does this, but a lot of them do it. I’m not really sure why. I feel like something is very, very wrong. I can’t shake the feeling until I get inside a building, and even then windows can prevent me from avoiding the feeling.

    Shawn Huckabay
  3. I already did this word. Hmm, hmm, strange, strange. Don’t you think, they should rearabge the words once in a while? Oh, oh, just so you know, this is FAKE, it’s not really real. Just pass over this piece like a purple butterfly. I am a crime of ryhme.

  9. I was snowblind, struggling through waist-deep snow. Ice crystals had formed on my eyelids where I’d accidentaly wiped snow from my face. I struggled on, determined to find them.
    I had to find them.
If I didn’t, it would be the end of us all.
    The storm raged on.

  10. Brainstorm. Intense. Fire and lightening course through my mind like so many fingers of electricity crawling across the belly of a dark cumulonimbus. The etches in my brain like canyons of the cloud’s contusions.

    John Prater
  11. i saw a storm the other day. it was stronger than the one before it, but weaker than others in the past. the sky turned an odd shade of sea green, but no big event came from it.

  14. The storm had finally blown over. Christian was glad; the momentary respite from the thunder and lightning that had beat the sky offered a blessed hour or two to sleep without being jerked awake. The rain had pounded the window and the wind had bent the tops of the trees to the side so that now they hunched as old ladies. Stormy weather made for poor killing.

  22. Happy storms make people run. This is quite sad however, as these happy storms are perceived to be bad, loud, and preceed bad weather. This is all incorrect. After all, it is all about perspective. If people thought that storms were going to cause a nice day full of reading and not going out, this would change.

  25. I saw the clouds, undulating like waves, only in the sky. A big storm was coming, and we had work to get done. Work that would be ruined if it rained before we finished. I yelled – “The storm is coming – Move Your Ass!” – not like I needed to tell anyone, we all knew what the rain landing on our work would mean.

    Jack Clay
  26. Having made it through the day, one thing struck me as astonishing. It was the color of a summer evening with thunderstorms rumbling all around. The sky was red and the storms rumbled like mighty snores from an aging relative.

  28. The storm lasted hours. Instead of the calm, overcast day that she had expected, the swirls and twirls of wind had raced across window pains, through fields of corn and grass, across the lakes and with the current of the water below it, it had run through the deep river canyon until it reached her door.

    faye christiansen
  29. I wish the clouds would move in and cure the west of the cursed sun’s heat. The wind blows the leaves of the trees with little effect. Nothing helps but those familiar gray clouds that cause a beautiful summer storm.

    Cora
  30. It was a fine storm, the type that for hours light up the clouds and make them appear like magnificent towers and columns in the northern sky. What’s even more amazing about it is that it was during the dead of night, at 1AM, so that one feels as if one were sneaking glimpses at the home of the Olympian gods.

    Pansoti
  31. there was this one time that i was outside, and the wind was blowing like crazy and it was swirling around, just lifting up my skirt and flowing around between my legs and i thought, hell, if i die here, i dont care, this is so damn good, this is the way life should be, this is how i should have been born and this is how i wouldnt mind dying. i wouldn’t mind dying here at all. not at all.

  36. Ironic since it’s currently raining and thundering and lightninging. Wish it could do this for a while, but as it’s Florida, We’d probably be underwater if it happened. The rain is nice, I’d rather like to take a nap in the rain…

  37. Crashing outside, the thunder coming faster as the lightning comes closer. It matches my erratic pulse, my heart jumping against my ribs until it feels like they might break under the force, as you come closer, your body reaching to fit against mine. I panic, I run. The cold rain outside clears my head, washes all traces of you from me. The thunder pounds against my eardrums, the lightning blinds my eyes, the rain drenches me, sticking my clothes to my skin. I trip over the curb and make my way across the street. The orange glow from the streetlights and the glitter of their reflection in the raindrops guide my awkward, stumbling path away from you. This storm will wash me away, take me anywhere but here.

    Sam Gordon
