A simple ball of string, and a simple child together wove a story of mystery and magic. The string only the catalyst for the young child’s mind.

    clinging to your heart

  15. I love string. My mom used to make me fluffy soft blankets out of string and yarn when I was little and I loved it because it made me feel safe during thunderstorms and other scary things. I used to talk to my blankets when I was lonely or scared and they always made me feel like my mom was right there with me. Other good things that string can do are tie up people you don’t like to a tree or pull out your teeth if you tie it to a door knob. I used to do that when I was little as well.

    Made of old paper bags.
    It holds the manuscript together.
It crinkles when you touch it.
I smooth it down as soon as I can.

  26. i feel like a turkey. pop me into the oven. it’s just oh so skanky. like, i’m wearing more string than clothing. one crooked finger and i would be naked, vunerable, raped. reaped. i’m in danger, everything is telling me danger, but it’s more dangerous to be wearing a knife when held to reality with some thin string.

  27. the cat chased the huge ball of string through the house rolling and flipping like a trapeeze artist at the circus. she seemed infactuated with the bright greens and blues in the ball of string. she would bat it about then grabit and roll through the room. it had taken me 5 days to roll that string up for her and it was worth every finger numbing minute to sit and watch her curiosity now. I hope to find something someday to ammuse myself this way!!

  29. Calluses build on rosebud fingers from holding down hard metal strings. I take special care of my G-String, which I think is about to break. Hopefully he won’t notice–my god of hand-clapped rhythms and dark skies in foreign counties. He is the symbol of everything serene and true, of the music that flows through us, connects us all to each other and to the earth. I want to know every inch of his darkly tanned skin, his soft lips parted in a clean white smile, his soulful brown eyes…I want to know him again, as I knew him then, when our souls melted together on that distant bus in the distant past.

  30. Guitar.. music…. by far the best thing you will ever know. The melody that comes is better than sex.. better than life in itself.. more powerful and more meaningful than the words you say. I love you music :)

  31. A piece of this will get you out of trouble or take you down to your knees. Use it it wisely but don’t downplay the simplicity of its design to save a bag of water on a churnning sea or to break your leg as you walk down a flight of stairs.

  33. the string that connects us all. i saw a picture of the red string in a photograph when I was in israel. and it spooked me because I was wearing a red string myself – one that I bought off of a beggar on Ben Yehuda street. when I gave a donation of $5 shekels, the man tied the red string around my left wrist, asked my name, and said a blessing to me. He said that the string would remind me that we are all connected to each other. That i am not alone and that someone is thinking of the god things Ive done.

    Debra Fricano
  34. long, thin, dangly and best for tying in a knot to remember things like Winnie the Pooh does. “As long as a piece of string” they say, what does that mean? and also, if a piece of string is really that long then surely it doesn’t mean anything.

    Joel Diamond
  35. I have a piece of yellow string. I found it on the ground, amongst a bunch of daisies. How I spotted it, I don’t rightly know. But it is the prettiest yellow I’ve ever seen. I think I’ll name it Claire.

  39. a string connects the sleeping to the wakeful by a dream of sleepy crusties that come from one’s eyeball. it’s gross, but beautiful at the same time for it is the crustiness that represents beautiful rest. such a string connects us all, crusty-like!
