  1. The cat pounces and I laugh as a tumble of scratchy pink is tangled around him in a messy jumble of bright and dark fur, and he looks up at me with pleading eyes to ask if he can help me escape. I laugh again and lazily roll him out of his predicament. He stretches and his haunches roll as well. “Thank you.”

  16. spinning it in a spiral motion as if it were my own little cat toy. I used to do that as a kid with one long piece and walk around my house with it. It also reminds me of that one episode of “Malcom in the Middle” when Francis was trapped in that cabin in Alaska (i think) and all of the workers with him were fighting one another for a small bit of string to play with.

  35. There is a string hanging from my ceiling fan for my cat to play with while I’m gone. I usually take it down when I’ve been spending a lot of time at home because it’s not the most attractive thing in my apartment, but it sure keeps my cat busy when I’m too busy to be there for her. There’s a little ball attached to the end of it with velcro on it, so it sticks. She bats it around all the time. Its wonderful.
