  10. I don’t go to the subway anymore since I saw Jeremy there. He was with his friend, the one who made the ham sandwich with catsup, and they were making fun of other passengers. A man beat them both up and they cried and bled and nobody paid them heed. I tried not to, anyways. It’s hard to ignore that kind of wail.

  11. I love the subway. It’s just so dirty, but efficient. Thousands of people sweating and spitting and sleeping every day just to make the money necessary to keep it running. Or, in some cases, it’s a nice place to sleep. Either way, it’s a dirty, happy place.

  12. I was on the subway once we went into a car and there was this awful smell because there happened to be puke on the floor of the car. That was very upsetting for my friends from New jersey on their first visit to Boston.

  13. I went to the subway on a Friday. I don’t normally like to go there; it’s too smelly and too cold for me. Theresa was there, though, and I wanted to see her more than I wanted anything else. She was playing her guitar on a bench near the tracks, collecting small amounts of money. It was sad to see her like that.

  15. Subway systems in Canada:

I have lived in 3 of the major cities in Canada.

Toronto’s subway system is old, and the trans only run in the center of the city and then out to boondocks. Also, it does not sync with Google Maps. However, its not a digital coin receptor so you can sometimes get away with not enough change.

Vancouver is a wonderful system! I love that it does Sync with Google Maps. Runs more buses, and from North Vancouver is a pain. Need more subway/skytrain lines!

Montreal has the best subway system by far. Many lines running all through the city.

  16. ive been on the subway before. not often but occasionally in big cities that i visit for a week or so. they smell and are crowded. but i like them. they seem to be almost a zoo for humans. where i can sit back and watch what people ive never seen do in a natural setting. i don’t see how they can do it day to day.

  19. “Hey! Stop that man!” I heard a girl shout. She was dressed in a pink ensemble, and her outfit had been, a few seconds ago, adorned with a fluffy pink handbag. Now a man with a long, straggly beard was darting out the train door and into the next train. The business man sitting a few rows behind the victim looked up, seeming bemused. He had been emmersed in his slick black laptop, having pulled it out of an official looking briefcase a few minutes before.

  31. I was on the subway, sticky, hot, July. A homeless man sat next to me, said in a loud voice, “Sure is hot!” Everyone else pretended not to hear. I nodded absently and said, “Sure is.” “Wow, I exist!” he exclaimed. “Someone has acknowledged my existence!”

  33. I was on the subway once, and a strange man walked on. He was covered in paint and looked homeless. He started laughing at me. I wanted to smile, but he smelled so bad. I couldn’t stand it. I got off the train and wondered what he was doing there. I never found out. Wait, what’s the point of this if I can still edit after time’s up?

I had to take the subway home from my classes every day and the knowledge of how to use it is one of the major things i took from my experience in Barcelona. Even if it is a little thing.
